I know this is an old af video but I just wanted to say you explained more in under 3 min than some others did in like 10. So thanks for that

If you don’t have a soldering iron you can strip 1/4 inch of plastic off the ends of the wires and twist them together, make sure to match the same color wires to each other. Cover the bare wires with electrical tape so they don't short (touch).

you made it look so easy
@calibroshobby10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. really the trick is holding the wire so that when you release the soldering iron the wire stays up against the board. Also have the soldering iron hot and put some fresh solder on the tip to get some flux on it or use flux. Don't hold the tip on the board for more then a few seconds. I can change one out in less then 5 min. But luckily the new ones don't burn out motors hardly at all.

what kind of solder do u use i know 60 40 but is there a certain one thats best for RC ?

All i did to fix the motor was to put some wd 40 to lubricate the motor and problem solved, motor wasn't jammed.

When i did this the motor i replaced spins slowly on startup. the other 3 are not moving. I even tried another motor and switched teh wires on each. puzzeld?!

how long is the wire from the engine and how many gauge?
@genojameson16039 жыл бұрын
So you used the existing solder that was already on the board? Correct, and what size tip and temp solder needs to be used?
@calibroshobby9 жыл бұрын
only a small amount of solder was added. a medium (1/8") or smaller tip should work. any electrical solder should work so long as it either contains flux (rosin core) or flux is added. 60/40 electrical solder is typically used and it melts at about 430 F.
@lilafricanpcgames98799 жыл бұрын
Do you have to "tin" the ends to replace the motor, because I don't have tin
@calibroshobby9 жыл бұрын
"tin" the ends means add a small amount of solder. the purpose is to add flux to help the solder melt at a lower temp and also to "wet out" or adhere to the metal better. you may be able to do this job without buying any solder but it is not as easy and may cause you to overheat the circuit board.

Im not really sure if mine is broken or not. It runs and rotates pretty good. It makes a bit of noise when I flick it. Not much, small grinding. But the battery life, damn. The batteries are draining. From 6-7 down to 2-4 minutes. Could it makes such difference? Thanks!
@jigglytummy75229 жыл бұрын
i reccomend buying extra batteries like 380mah-last 10min flying and 500mah-11-12min flying.i use both of those li-po batteries
@calibroshobby9 жыл бұрын
yes this could be the motors drawing more amps, but the batteries do not last forever so could be both.

I managed to accidently detach wires from the motor itself, how should i attach them back? I don't have soldering iron myself. xP It's a Quadrojet what i have, it's a mini quad with plane foam around it.
@calibroshobby9 жыл бұрын
If there is any wire sticking out you can solder to that, otherwise you will most likely need to buy a new motor. PS I have not seen that quad you mentioned, but this is true for most motors.

I've already talked to two other people about my problem, and I'm just trying to compare responses. Recently my X4 crashed into a gravel lot from pretty high up. External or noticeable damage was minima (just scratches)l, but now it doesn't actually doesn't take off, even at full power. It has a tendency to flip over to the left. I can't tell if any of the motors is truly not up to speed. I do hear an odd "off-key" resonance when I move the stick in one particular direction, so I tend to think so. However, both of the other guys I contacted seem think it could just as easily be the RX-motherboard now not distributing power in the right way. The copter seems to respond on all channels with no problem, and I even calibrated the gyros with success. I'm just curious how you might approach this or if you have an idea what's going on, if you don't mind getting back to me. Thanks.

I would first check propellers. Just put new ones on maybe they are spinning on the shaft. Next I would check to see if the motors spin up to the scammer high speed by holding it in hand and rotating it with a small amount of throttle. Then check soldering connections of the motors on the board. It is very rare that the control board would go out or the radio, but it is a possibility. Sorry for the late response.

I know this is an old video but I swap out all four motors, ensured wire colors matched and the props are on correctly but it still won’t fly. I am new to this and any suggestions will be appreciated

Hey I was replacing all of the motors and while doing so, the wire attached to the motor 2 negative terminal ripped off the transmitter board, and also removed the gold plate that is part of the board. Now it doesn't stick when I try to resolder it on. Do you know of a way to bypass this? Can I attach the motor 2 negative wire to a different connection on the board?
@SensoryAlterations10 жыл бұрын
Just in case you haven't fixed it yet.... Have a look at the tracks where the solder pad has ripped off, what you're looking for is a place where you can scratch off some of the green PCB cover to create a new place to solder to. I've had this problem on other projects, it can be a real b****. Just make sure you don't apply too much heat to the PCB for too long, it weakens the bond between the copper tracks and the board. Good Luck!

I have metal work lead free silver bearing acid core solder, I'm new to this, will that work?
@calibroshobby9 жыл бұрын
Only use it if it says for electrical use. there is lead free silver solder for electrical and that will work. if it is for structural metal soldering it will not work.

I had two motors go out less than 24 hours after I received the micro quad in the mail. Under low throttle they spin very slowly if at all. Under full throttle they seem to spin but the craft flips over when trying to take off. Do you think that is a symptom of a bad motor? The propellers are on there snugly, do I don't think the are free spinning on the shaft. Super fun micro quad, but I'm worried about their durability. Has anyone else had durability issues with the x4 motors?
@callumfoster81710 жыл бұрын
Are you sure you have the right props on the motors? Each arm near the motor pod has a letter, either a or b. The props also have an a or b on them. You have to match them up. This is because the opposing arms both spin one way while the other two spin the opposite way. Hope this helps!
