thanks i had an issue with the x4 when it crashed i thought one of the motors had been damaged as it would fly round in circles and very difficult to takeoff. Followed your guide and its working like new again, dont need to buy another one now.

I think your video helped me the most. I can't get it to stop drifting. After flying Syma indoor copters ; I thought this would be easy to learn. It isn't. I can compensate for the drift. If I could get it flying steady I could do much better.

Possibly same reason V3 has a video camera display, future Hubsans will be able to monitor and display the quad copters battery voltage, also switch the camera via the transmitter.

Great video! It helps a lot. I'm confused about the last part where you did the range test. The three results had different arial categories ('removed', 'with', and 'no'). Can you explain what the arial is and what each category means ('removed' and 'no' seem like they would be the same thing). Also you showed the 'winning combination,' but it's just a picture of a 'copter and transmitter. Which 'copter and transmitter is the winning combination? Thanks again!

Nice vid, thanks for figuring all this out. Sub'd ps...someone else showed the x4 "eyes" blinking when doing the waggle,waggle. Do they all have the leds? I just got mine a month ago, so Im guessing I have the latest version.

Hi John thank you for your comments and sub’d, As long as the lights blink this should have reset your gyro, the flatter the surface the more stable the quad.

Ok. Its funny. I have been plugging in the battery with the x4 upside down on flat surface, so i never saw my "eyes" till yesterday. Lol. Apparently not everyone knows the prop guard is taped UNDER the plastic tray the quad comes packaged in.

I've turned down the sensitivity to 20 on each one, like you showed, and since then it doesn't want to do that recalibration thing (where you hold right-down and waggle the right stick). Doesn't flash or anything! Am I doing something wrong?

terry milligan I found it's best if you briefly go into expert mode to do the calibration, then switch back to normal mode. I recommend you leave the Expert mode settings on 50.

Insted of lifting both throttle sticks up and to the left then switching on the transmiter, try lifting both throttle sticks up and to the right, while switch on your transmiter.

Good question. Yes it does sounds like transmitters settings , your quad needs to be perfectly horizontal , while setting the built in gyro .

This is very helpful. I've been asking around and have a unique problem. We just got 2 X4s and one was working but after the first battery was replaced it now starts up when the battery is connected. The 'Power-on Safety mode' isn't working. Any ideas beyond replacing the circuit board.? It's only flown 5 minutes. The other one works fine. We've tried different batteries.

I got one of these as an early christmas gift from a friend but I can't seem to get it to work. I followed your guide and reset it to factory settings but when you started flying mine was completely unresponsive and wouldn't move no matter what I did. This is the same problem I was having before I found this video - it doesn't seem to respond at all and a few times when I've left the controller on and been browsing online for help it has suddenly taken off without any input - do you think I have a faulty one?

Try replacing the batteries in the transmitter also check the rotor blades are on the correct motor. This is more difficult than it sounds, look at the angle of the blades, notice the way the motor is spinning, and imagine the blade angle position lifting the quad. Via each motor, Good luck.

My Hubsan x4 has the left rear motor that comes on immediately upon connecting the battery. The transmitter does not pair and therefore has no control over the other motors. I suspect that it is not a motor problem as the motor is working, but I think it is a board problem. Is there a way to reset the board or somehow reset the device? Any other thoughts on this?

Hello Ed, try resetting back to manufactures settings, as you may be in Mod1, also if the left and rear motors spin up first suggests you did not have it flat when calibrating, don’t worry just follow my Hubsan X4 Transmitter Settings video. And you should be up and running soon.

Changing setting will not affect the rate of decent, it’s just practice my friend. Don’t just drop the throttle but slowly lower it. Good luck.

Hello good day sir, My prolem is kinda different, first day mine arrived, I opened it and turned on the transmitter and the drone, I had no clue about calibrating and stuff like that, I touched the throttle mistakenly and it flew uncontrollably and almost hit me and my workmate, i got very scared and decided to read the instructions firs, but unfortunately at that moment two rotors were broken, I stuck the rotors with a good glue, but since that very first day I can not make take off, it keeps spinning and one of the rotors does not leave the the floor and the other three stay in the air, I followed your instructions as per the video aforementioned, but it still the same, the batteries on the controller were not new and I don't think that's the problem, I bought new batteries (rechargeable) but I did not try yet, will try soon, could you please advise on my case, what I should do ? I can send you short video if want to better understand my case, could you please what my problem might be ? Regards

Hello Emilio, I fully understand your request for help, after raising your throttle to arm your drone, you repeated the action giving full throttle hence the sudden acceleration, breaking the rotor on impact, it sounds like you glued the wrong rotor to the wrong motor, unfortunately you cannot glue rotors it will never fly correct, replace the rotors with new ones making sure they are spinning the correct way, reset to manufactories setting, and slowing lift the throttle.

I had this problem, the front-left blue LED was flashing but it wouldn't run. I tried switching batteries, checked the connections, etc, no results. Through some digging online I found out one of the parts on the circuit board was burned out(an FET), I bought a new controller board, soldered all the motors, camera & LEDs onto the new board, and everything works great again. Please note: I bought a H107D receiver board, it cost about $18 shipped (the price seems to have gone up to $25 each). You have your rotor blades on the wrong motor, your four motors spin CW, CCW, CW, CCW, push one blade on at a time hold your hand just below the blade, while spinning the motor you should feel a downward draft. Do this to all four motors and you will be flying again.

If your left stick physically will not go down, then you have a obstruction, else you need to change from mode1 to mode2.

only 21 Feet? the box must block a lot cus it goes over the 70 feet field in front of my house with ease.. and i can lift it up high enough for me to not see it anymore.. don't know what the box does to the radio reception but it must fuck it up quite a bit XD maybe other interference as well in your home?

I've been flying for almost 3-years now and have around 15-Quads or so, just purchased this quad last week, I have to say way to much unnecessary crap going on with this quad, reverse set up, flip mode on or off etc.., why would anyone want to reverse set up their quad, just buy the right mode in the first place, just giving one example, just hope I don't press the wrong button at the wrong time, the thing might self destruct !!! This quad should come with 1st class free on how to adjust and operate !!

I'm going to retract most of my negative opinion (above) on my Hubsan X4, now that I have a better handle on how to adjust and operate it, it's a pretty fun Quad to fly, so I would recommend this Quad, just have to read the manual a few times, also when you change a blade use the little wrench given, unlike my other Quads that I can just pull blades off with my fingers, I pulled on the Hubsan blade and the motor came out with it, the wire on my Hubsan's are not soldered to the Board, I had to solder extension wires to reach the board, all and all it's a great little Quad !!
