Hubsan Zino Mini Pro - SyncLeas 3.0 Connection Test And Obstacle Avoidance Again

Hubsan is doing some good work improving the Hubsan Zino Mini Pro. In my first few flights with the drone, I had some connection issues. I've seen significant improvement though. With that in mind, I do a flight test here in a challenging WiFi environment. I also went another round with the Obstacle Avoidance system on the drone. I hope you find this useful.

Thanks Marcus I have just purchased this little Hubsan drone and I have only been able to have one test flight so far due to weather problems in the UK. Can I say I am very impressed with the drone I still think some minor things need be ironed out by Hubsan but can I say its down to you and other reviewers that Hubsan take note and recitfy these problems. Because of your reviews they would be lost with out you so its a bigs thanks from me, after all if they Hubsan had not watched your reviews I dont think I would have purchased the little zino and would have gone for the DJI Mini but I wanted to try a different drone company like Hubsan so thank you Marcus for your time and patience.

Ehi friend however, it is your gimbal that has that shaking problem, probably, indeed I'm sure it is broken. Mine does not have this problem. When you forcibly open the sensors, they don't work as they should, once calibrated (often after updating the firmware) the sensors work fine

@@IdahoQuadcopter Yes my friend, SE is already surprising me with its flight performance and camera quality. gotta test day time shots still. ESL job is keeping me too busy. Tracking has a huge improvement on SE. it follows you even at night in darker areas without lights given that you have some sort of lights on you though. so it can find subject. Superb results on SE. I think Hubsan will have better sales and results on SE. just my feeling. as some people said, who needs OA on these mini drones. but Still having OA some times does save your drone :) Good test and glad that your ZMP is improving

Good video. Hubsan certainly needs to drop the price of this it’s way too high for the very entry level quality footage it gives. Some cheap holy stone drones do better. The mini 2 still blows this away in every way. And in the UK the Mini 2 is cheaper!

If you are looking for some topics for videos for the HZMP...here is my wish list/video suggestions: 1) Follow-me functionality (ideal (bright sunshine, open area, good contrast in color..grass vs clothes) and not so ideal conditions); 2) Full waypoints tests (Core functionality: Waypoints, Different POI at diff waypoints, Default pause vs No-Pause at waypoints (0 seconds), Photos at waypoints, Long distance mission, and if possible some edge cases (hit RTH in middle of mission...will it RTH or ignore, Low battery...will it return to home or try and complete mission, Show what happens (msg) when you try and set WP beyond 5KM, etc). 3) Side by side comparison of video quality from HZMP vs Dji Mini 2;

It's hard to imagine how Hubsan will address the heat issues without some sort of re-design...new chips, more air vents, etc. So I wouldn't hold my breadth on that fix. I think if you fly w/o obstacle avoidance and at a lower bit rate (100mb/s) and don't do to much hovering I think you should be fine.

Hey Marcus, did you upgrade to the two most recent firmware upgrades v1.3.0 (for gimbal performance fix) and the newest v1.3.2 (improved OA detection)?

V1.3.0 really degrades video quality. I think they must have enabled EIS in an attempt to sort out the jello, but the jello is still there, with what is now terrible picture quality. At least photos still seem ok. I strongly recommend against installing V1.3.0, V1.3.1 and V1.3.2, and hope the next one gets video quality back to at least as good as V1.2.9.

Thanks for the video. Watch out for the Mini's they're like tribbles... before you know it your house will be filled with them. How many DJI Mini's do you have now? How many Fimi Mini's? And soon you'll have 2 HZMP's? And Autel hasn't even released theirs yet. It's already started...be afraid VERY afraid. 😉 The HZMP's syncleas looks pretty solid. There is a LOT of tech packed into it...I'm not surprised that it get's a little toasty when everything is turned on. I'm not much of a OA person..but if I were using it I'd likely only turn it on when I'm doing something a bit more risky...like follow me in a obstacle filled environment and then I'd turn it off and fly freely. I saw you pause before crossing the road...strictly speaking I believe that the FAA rules state that it's not against the rules to fly over traffic as long at it is "transitory' (e.g., crossing a road ). It's also my understanding that you can fly over houses (covered shelter) as long as you aren't invading someone's privacy (i.e., peeping drone). Again, that is my understanding.

The overheating issues and running obstacle avoidance will ALWAYS be this Drones Achillies Heal.. As soon as you turned it on and hovered the temperature went through the roof and the sync was waaaaay out .. FPV was excruciatingly bad over 1000m. @@IdahoQuadcopter Please don't think I'm Hubsan Bashing for one minuite Marcus, if it wasn't for reviewers like yourself consumer's like ourselves would rely on bias promotional company videos. My opinion of this Drone has slowly changed from its launch to more positive in many ways but unfortunately not some of the tactics that Hubsan has employed for damage limitation and the fact that already we have seen 2 price increases, multiple major firmware updates, having to jump through hoops just to get it airbourn and the fact Hubsan has had its PayPal account frozen because of cancellations to me makes the whole experience of buying a " consumer friendly" turn on and go Drone a real bitter pill to swallow. On the plus side this is without doubt one of Hubsan best attempts to date and given the probebly too higher bar they themselves set overall they have done a not too shabby job.. But again we get back to the root of the problem... The Camera and Gimbal. Forget the active track, way points. Line flight, and all the pomp and ceremony, sort out what everybody has bought or looking to buy... The Camera and Gimbal One last thought.. It seems that the major problem with this Drone regarding overheating is when it's hovering with obstacle avoidance activated.. Your talking with Hubsan. Is there a way potentially that when the Drone hovers for, say over 10 seconds the obstacle avoidance deactivates then reactivate when it detects movement..similarly to when the FPV only activates when the motors are running? Just an idea.. Big rant sorry.. Stay safe 😇🙏

The tests are always with everything up to date and in environments without much interference. The fpv (excluding fpv HD) cuts out very quickly and freezes. Since the last update it's going pretty bad in general. Do you know which sync channel leas can work better?

It looks like the two most serious remaining problems with the drone are the overheating and the gimble shake. Let's hope your new gimble will improve your first drone, and that your new second drone functions better from the start. Then you can sell the first drone!

A bug I see in the display is that (when you say) 'it's about 4 feet in front of me' ... the units for height and distance is showing English Numbers with Metric notation. Instead of 4.x ft..it's showing 4.x m.

Looks like you're getting Jello from the Gimbal and when it was hovering in front of you talking the autofocus was off.. The roof looked to be in focus and you were out.. Maybe it's the whole Camera & Gimbal that needs to be replaced? There's no tap to focus I'm assuming for the camera so I don't know about that camera.. Horizon was a tad off also when you first gained altitude and were waiting to cross the road... Just saw the end of your video they're replacing it so that a good step in the right direction..

Because they are fools, and don't know the what a heat shield is. It's to protect surfaces, say a tabletop, and doesn't improve cooling in flight. The bottom plate can get pretty warm, certainly during an update or during OA calibration, but it hasn't been a problem on mine. My temps in flight are generally 46c, with ambient temperature around 36c down here in LA.

Sadly, aircraft firmware V1.3.0 resulted in a serious degradation in recorded video quality. In search of a solution to the video jello issue, I suspect Hubsan enabled some sort of EIS, resulting in a catastrophic loss of detail. I see large blurry areas in foliage, and grass looks like a uniform blob of green. Photos still seem quite good, but I don't feel the recorded video is worth the hard drive space. I really hope Hubsan can sort this out, and if I could, I would revert to V1.2.9. I strongly recommend against updating to any currently available firmware at the time of this posting, if you have any interest in video quality.

I have had 4 Hubsan products and all but 1 flew away or randomly dropped out of the sky within 20 to 30 flights. The last one is fine cause I don't fly it. They consistently make lousy products and this one is no didferent...and for more than the Mini 2? People must be nuts if they buy one.
