Man, seeing Sandra Bullock in that movie and what she is like in real life, she got her spot on. Well deserved Oscar awarded! I wish more credit would also be given to Michael Oher, he was willing to turn his life around it wasn't just a rich white family saved him and whipped him into a good boy, they found a diamond in the rough and helped him help himself. Amazing story, haven't seen anything quite like that unless you count The Help another southern spin tale.

@@rebuiltgirl3263 I still recall the first time I saw this movie... I didn't see the Touhy family as White. It simply didn't come off that way. Or maybe it was Sandra's performance. They came off as a normal family with great Christian values, and they simply carried on as great Christians, without the constant sermonizing... just being themselves as human beings, good human beings. I've met people like this, some Blacks, Hispanics and Caucasians that don't claim or brag about their Christian values, but simply ARE good, kind Christians from deep down in their core. The message I got was was more of a question: WHY aren't we all like these fine people? They didn't ACT "noble," they WERE noble. They didn't act "good." They WERE and ARE GOOD people.

@steverogers760111 ай бұрын
It’s not spooky at all. White family took advantage of a poor black kid, made a book deal immediately, and made a white savior movie all off the work of this kid who did not get any compensation at all for it. In his own 2011 memoir, he mentions the conservatorship with Touhy on three different occasions. But hey, he's got black privilege and knows the media will side with him regardless of the evidence. What a lovely family. Their actions speak volumes about their values. Its easy to talk about ethical values but to act on them, is the proof that they mean something. What an amazing thing for them to adopt a homeless young man, trust him with their family, and pay for all his expenses through childhood into college. How many of us are unselfish enough to take on a 3rd child and be generous with our time, financials, and share our lives with them? Michael Oher was so motivated to succeed, hats off to him. To come from this emotional black hole and not be dragged down into drugs and alcohol, but to excel in his chosen sport and make a good life for himself, he is a remarkable man! So many choices to make, such a rough start, but he overcame all of it. Kudos to him, this takes great courage and tenacity. He is a credit to his family too. If only we were all more like this family. Imagine how integrated we would be as a society. No more divisiveness and hatred, only harmony and love and growth.
