Michael Oher, a former NFL player immortalized in the Oscar-winning film "The Blind Side," is alleging a key part of his life story was a lie. Oher was taken in by a well-off White family in Mississippi while in high school. On Monday, he filed a 14-page petition alleging the Tuohy family never adopted him and instead tricked him into agreeing to a conservatorship.

It’s not so much that he didn’t get money that gets me. The truly heartbreaking thing is that all this time he believed he was adopted and part of their family. Choosing legal means to control his finances and NOT ever making him part of the family is just cruel.

And what money did the White family earned or cheated Michael because of the conservatorship? In the lawsuit itself, Michael admits he himself "gave away" the rights to the movie studio for the money. It's been reported that the White family had a single legal rep deal with negotiations with the movie studio while Michael had his own business agent deal with the negotiations. If Michael's own team didn't do a good job negotiating a fair deal, who's fault is that?

Nono, there are good people out there like Michael Chandler who has an adopted black son who he has raised since before he could talk. The timing of their sudden entrance into his life is what makes it so shady. If Michael Oher was built like Kevin Hart at 17 they would’ve never given him a second glance, adopting a child (pre-teen) isn’t some magic golden ticket to them becoming a superstar athlete if they don’t have the genetics and work ethic, which is almost impossible to predict in a child. Once they hit puberty though you can start to easily see what genetic traits they will display as an adult. There isn’t an ulterior motive for most parents who adopt. Thing is, they didn’t even ever adopt Michael at all. This story breaks my heart because Michael was clearly heading for greatness already and if they had been genuine they could have helped him have security in pursuit of that dream, lord knows they didn’t need anymore wealth than they already had, which is what makes this move SO scummy.

@@avacadomangobanana2588 This is what I’ve understood. People keep saying “well where would he be without this family”. But to me it seemed Michael was determined to make something of himself no matter what. If it wasn’t true he would’ve never accepted to go to that private Christian school he went to even before he met the Touhys. Only someone who wants to succeed in life takes up an offer like that. And he did it against all odds knowing he was practically homeless and had virtually no support from his parents. That to me tells says enough.

Exactly what I’m saying. The fact people cannot understand this is unbelievable. Would you put someone you truly love and care about, such as your child, in a conservatorship even if they weren’t impaired in any way!? No. You would let them fly free as a bird to control their own financies, life, name and whatever else. The fact they put him in a conservatorship when Michael was in no way impaired tells me that the whole time they had ulterior motives and really did not care about him. They did not help him freely and out of the kindness of their hearts but instead were expecting something in return and made sure they got it.

Mike WROTE IN HIS OWN BOOK in 2011 that the Tuohy's did a CONSERVATORSHIP! He, HIMSELF wrote that in 2011. So why is he claiming he didn't know now? If he had a beef with how he was portrayed in the movie, that's one thing, but to lie like this makes people doubt he is sincere.

How could you not have known? Here, sign here your adopted WaLa. In many states, adoption laws and regulations require that an older child give their consent to being adopted their apart of the process. I was adopted, and it's a huge process. He didn't receive any money from the movie? That movie allowed him opportunities that most NFL players would never receive. For example, to be able to write a book about your story that gave a lot of people hope. Would he have gotten where he is without that family who knows, sounds like a lack of communication neglecgence on his part for not sitting down with this family talking about the money that came from the movie any proceeds who gets what. The man is blessed and chooses to be ungrateful. No gratitude, he became entitled. He had other people who would have taken him in but probably would not have lived as lavishly. I hope he doesn't get a dime!

They're foul. Why have him sign a conservatorship when he's grown? You didn't present your own kids with one. Why lie and say they were adoption papers and them never even legally adopted the man. This is why no one had to get approval of the script from him. They got approval from his conservators. And why say you'll end if it that's what he wants. Should've ended it a long time ago or never had one. So why does this grown successful man have to learn if a conservatorship from other ppl to find out it's still in place if they had his best interest at heart? Nope. They saw he was going somewhere and took early advantage just in case he made it. He can't even get married without their consent for it to legally count. Foul Foul Foul on the field.

According to their family attorney they could not adopt him since his biological mom would not sign papers to release him. And why is this now coming out?! He is writing a book right. And if he is that will explain all of this. I mean he did turn his life around and was able to make 34 million in football. I am not defending the family entirely. They should of discussed this with Michael. And they should of had at least half of what they made from the book rights and movie go to Michael. Hopefully they can work this out. But if I was worth 16 million dollars, I wouldn’t be so unhappy.

If he was to old to adopt, why did they have to have him sign conservatory papers? He only stayed with them from a less than year! He went to live with him near or the end of his Jr. year in HS! His BD is on May 28 to which he turned 18 back in 2004! He signed with Ole Miss in February of 2005. He went to Ole Miss in June of 2005! The blind side came out in 2009! Michael was a NFL rookie in 2009!

@@arronfrazier7873 According what I read was that the University of Mississippi informed the family that was how he was able to enter their University. And the family sat down with Michael and his biological mom and discussed this with him. Even in the film it stated guardianship. So what you reading from Michael according to this family is not true. And they stated they will provide all of this in court. And they will also provide that Michael did get money for the film profits and that they set it up for him and his oldest kid. Again they stated they will provide all of this in court. They also stated that thus wasn’t the first time they have been shaken by attempts by Michael. And every time a lawyer finds out the truth and does not proceed in any court action. What is say let it all come out in court and see who is lying. We shall see. Let’s not jump to conclusions either way. But Michael does live in a 1.4 million dollar home, and has made 34 million dollars in pro football. And I think he is writing a new book.

What is the most sad part is people are getting all in alarm and off of the football players side. When what he saying is his version now after all of these years. And people are in arms because they watch the movie which was not a documentary it was based on a true story but there was also dramatic license given to make the movie sale better.Just because the movie may have made over 300 million dollars that doesn't mean it went to that family in the movie they sold rights or something to the man that wrote the movie but the 300 million or more didn't go to the family it went to the actors the producers the directors the company that made the movie It's not like he's going to come out of this stupid story with 150 million dollars. He already has 34 million dollars or more from playing pro football Now he's trying to make more money riding his own book that I now don't plan on even looking at much less buying because he's just being a greedy theatrical punk

Ironically, Michael Oher did not protect the “blind side“ for most of his career, since he played right tackle. As most quarterbacks are right handed, the blindside is considered from their left, which would be protected by the left tackle. Opposing defense is generally put their best pass rusher on that side, which makes the left tackle position the most difficult.

Just goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished. This family was already worth hundreds of millions of dollars. They did not need any of his money. Like they knew at 16 that this kid would go on to make it in the NFL. I have been in similar situations where I took legal custody of my niece and nephew and I always used the word adoption. They came from broken homes and they blamed me and my wife for everything wrong that happened in their lives. It is very difficult to deprogram children who come from abusive homes. I got mine at 8 and 9 years old. I can't imagine getting a kid at 16.

How selfish and ungrateful this man is. If the Tuohy's made some money telling THEIR story, good for them. He's made in excess of $34 million from his career, that he probably wouldn't have had, without them. Hollywood ALWAYS change details of one's story, to sell the story. It's called poetic licence, I believe. You might not like it, but it is what they do. He's spiteful and selfish, to try and rubbish or ruin the very people who enabled him. Unfortunately, this has become the world we live in now.

You do understand he was a rising star football player in high school he was already going to get recruited and go on to get drafted. They basically gave him a place to stay and manipulated him for what a year or two so they could steal from him? that mad had already survived all of his hardships and made himself a great player. Basically everything that happened on their part in the movie was a lie they didn’t teach him how to play football read or write. It wasn’t like he was in danger of losing his life or dealing drugs he’d already put himself on his path they provided some assistance sure I won’t deny that they gave him that but they didn’t SAVE him.
