The original Kellogg's Stars were called "All Stars" and were introduced in 1960, about the same time General Mills' Twinkles first appeared. The original cartoon character was a magician called Whoo, The Wonderful Wizard of Oats ("All Stars, Allakazee, you buy the stars, the holes are free!"), and If I recall, they were introduced on a Kellogg's sponsored show "The Magic Land of Allakazam," which aired originally in 1960 on CBS-TV. But, like Twinkles, (All) Stars didn't last too long, especially after the Hillbilly Goat became the star character

I was born in 1959. I seem to think that Huck did more Sugar Stars ads than this one-but doggone if I can remember them. BTW--the name of the cereal was shortened to “Stars” by maybe 1970 and dropped altogether by 1973. That cereal rocked, to use modern jargon. 🙂

I wish Kellogg's would do a retro-cereal edition. With all the Hanna-Barbera characters and retro Fruit Loops & Rice Krispies [50's style], Tony the Tiger and Sugar Pop's Pete. I think a lot of Grandma's & Grandpa's would by them up. Maybe when Warner Bros. releases their Quickdraw DVD set, Kellogg's can sponser it. ?

These are great. Sugar was the star. One of my favorites is Kellogg's "Pinky Finishes Them Off." Spooky kid in a spooky house with a kooky butler named Pinky.

I've gotta fish that out and post it. I could watch 1950's 60's & 70's cereal commercials non-stop. Quisp & Quake & Captain Crunch too.

@@stephenadamsmusicalinterpr4203 It's cool because they show Quickdraw still on the box, so obviously Kellogg's were tranistioning from Quickdraw Sugar Smacks too.....? I'd have to look in my cereal history. They had a frog in the 70's, I think. All I can think of is all of the Kellogg's boxes we through in the Garbage in the 1960's.

At the end of "Chicken in the Bathroom" Cow who was very desperate to go to the toilet could not hold it any longer and ends up flooding the bathroom with urine/milk causing her and her family to tragically drown. Luckily for Cow and Chicken, Huckleberry Hound will appear in the upgrade version of an I Am Weasel episode entitled "Unsinkable I.R." where he gets infected with rabies and attacks I.M. Weasel and I.R. Baboon (except the Red Guy who runs for his life) in the bedroom scene and it was all a dream by Chicken who likes bath time after all.

This is one of the most unusual of the H-B Kellogg's commercials. I think because Daws Butler does no voicing on it at all. I don't know if there was some dispute. I do know that at some point the Snagglepuss commercials had a "Voice by Daws Butler" at the bottom of some commercials. I agree the animation is very distinct, but I'm not sure who it was.

@@stevenhanson1454 My guess is that DB did not work on the last ad because, as I learned long ago, he did not want to merely pimp a product, hated to be given what he termed "sell lines". DB was also a writer, so he helped write most of these ads. About the "Voice by Daws Butler" credit: That came about because of Bert Lahr's successful lawsuit against imitators of his "Cowardly Lion" voice. The "Snagglepuss" voice was an imitation of said "Cowardly Lion" voice.
