The Huckleberry Hound Show is a 1958 syndicated animated series and the second from Hanna-Barbera following The Ruff & Reddy Show, sponsored by Kellogg's. Three segments were included in the program: one featuring Huckleberry Hound, another starring Yogi Bear and his sidekick Boo Boo, and a third with Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks, two mice who in each short found a new way to outwit the cat Mr. Jinks.

I always love how much more fluid the animation was in some of these back then... they were a lot shorter than a whole episode so the animators could cram a lot more life into the characters. (Ed Love was one of the best animators HB ever had, he worked on at least a couple of these.)

All those Hanna-Barbera cartoons were on TV during the 1960's and 1970's, when I was a child, so I watched them as well as the new cartoons every Saturday morning.Some of those old cartoon characters were on cereal boxes back then.

I saw Galaxy Goof Ups on the internet recently. I wonder how Huck and Yogi felt about working together again after over twenty years? Goof Ups debuted on NBC in 1978. Huck and Yogi were together about around 1957 or something. Maybe that's about twenty one or twenty two years prior. Yogi left to star on his own show.

This brings back memories of parking in front of the TV after school and just before dinner on weekdays. I couldn't help but notice in the bumpers that feature Pixie and Dixie that Dixie does most of the talking, which makes sense because Pixie is the only character in these interstitials that is not voiced by Daws Butler. Don Messick was the voice of Pixie in the actual cartoons.

The animation of the first one is so H-B's MGM Tom and Jerry quality standard. It almost feel like that last 1957 Tom and Jerry cartoons before the MGM's closure. I never thought I'd watch a Hanna-Barbera post MGM era animation that animates like that. I'm practically atonished.

Yosef Demby A very good question. The answer is a resounding "yes". Using popular entertainment icons to sell product to an ignorant demographic-in this case children who have not been schooled in the dangers of sugar addiction-is most certainly both immoral and unethical. The fact that it is becoming a standard ploy by unscrupulous sponsors and marketers (Capital One-what's in YOUR wallet?), does not make it acceptable. And thanks for a very good question apropos the topic.
