There's quite a lot to do at Crossroads Village. Although it used to be a lot better. There's an operational blacksmith shop, an old mill, olde tyme candy shop, general store, doctors office, etc and of course the old train station. If you call ahead, you might get a tour of the boilermakers building where all the work on the steam engines is done. I've heard there are sometimes apprenticeships available also.

i just love the 464 it is an amazing engine with a great history one fact about it at crossroads is it is so heavy that it has actually bent the rails if you have ever been to crossroads you know the section of track in question

This is my home state’s staple aside from the Great Lakes everyone who’s ever been a kid and lived in genesee county has spent at least most of their childhood at this place primarily for the trains which are the main attraction obviously you got these steamers decorated for Halloween and Christmas and you got the diesel one which is the primary train that’s run as the steam engines only run on Saturday and Sunday between Labor Day weekend and Memorial Day weekend

The trestle in several shots and at 15:57 is the caps and stringers from what was called the "ZOO TRESTLE" when I was there between 1979 and 1983. It was a ballasted deck trestle when I was there. Thankfully they did not include the caboose on any of those trains. I did not notice Car No. 8 in the group but it is a Kimball Car Co. car from about 1877 or so from the Northwestern Pacific and the OR&N out of Reno, Nevada before that line was standard-gauged. Car No. 40 was originally a standard gauge car; there are two sets of bolsters under it. Car No. 260 was built new by the Burnham shops for the Rio Grande Southern with used trucks and the only new car they ever had. Cars 306 & 320 were from the Antonito to Santa Fe line. Car No. 316 was added after I left. Car No. 100 was a business car from the Zacataos RR in Mexico.

Excellent Mike. Loved your comments. On video you've caught the greatness of this train. I owe my greater interest in rail, especially steam 🚂 to a recently deceased friend, Gene. I needed to credit him. He loved steam engines the absolute best. This train is such a majestic beauty, especially with two locomotives with billowing steam! They're like art!
