My husband asked me to marry him and in order to convince me to marry him he chose to swear on the Koran and say he will never leave me or marry again he did both after he slept with a women on a 4 day lads trip to Morroco he left me with a child of 5 to run off and marry her. He ignored my son for 4 years and refused to divorce me however ignored my existence ever since. How is it fair for a man not to tell his wife and in effect cheat? To all men and some women who think otherwise, In the Qur'an Allah commands to live with your spouse in happiness and companionship- marriage is the most exciting and purest pleasures of this world. And by not telling your first wife, your marriage will break and you'll be living a lie- now these are not good manners right - the prophet was always truthful and honest (sunnah).. Yes everyone out there.. Sunnah means the actions and character of prophet and is not only limited to having multiple wives. Thanks. Now,.. every woman will have anxiety and will not want to marry and complete half of their deen of we accept that not telling your wife is fine. Oh and if i may, Some 'to be' reverts are hesitant in accepting Islam due to the misrepresentation of polygny and the fact that they fear their husband will marry another (because apparently social media has limited Islam to polygny now) . So we are basically preventing people (women) from accepting Islam due to the fear around the misinterpretation of what we know about polygny. I think it's highly foolish to say that one can marry without letting the first wife know. This is a path to depression, lack of trust, belief and unfufilling duties ordained from Allah. And let's get real, the reason prophet married more than 1 after the passing of Khadijah was due to protecting widows and orphans. Men now do it for the sake of selfish purposes. Dr naik, I don’t think it is just of a man marrying the second wife without informing the first wife because the verse of the Quran quoted by you above says a man can marry the maximum of four wives only if he can do justice and if he can’t he should stop at one, and for a man not informing his first wife of the second one he his bringing in is an act of injustice, thereby breaking the rules of the justices and truthfulness mentioned in the verse above stated by you sir, and such as as we all know will result to chaos in marriage and as result of that it’ll result to marriage instability..

Well these are rare cases. A wife killing the other wife is extremely rare. What is common is for the wife to be upset. But if the guy is able to handle the wives equally and provide for both of them without being biasd then this will work out. Just have to take care of a few adjustments.

Salam. Sis it if was left to the desires of men or women, this would never happen. Why would a man part with his hard earned money? He would rather sit on a couch and do nothing. But it has been expected of him to go out there, earn and then basically sacrifice it on the wife etc. And you know what, I as a man have no problem with that. I don't go around propagating some 'meninism' or mgtow or whatever. This is what my Lord commands, I hear and obey. Similarly if it was left to the woman, she would never desire to have a co wife. The concept has been so mocked and demonized along with disney expectations of the personal prince the one and only that this is far from reality and human history. Throughout our history as humans this has taken place. It is only now that we see our desires objecting with the Shariah. I think we should stop to ponder on this point. If we accept Allah as our Creator, our desires in this temporary world don't matter as we are working towards akhirah. You would be surprised to know I know of some women who have actually searched for and arranged their husband's second marriage. Due to various reasons. A muslimah who understands the Deen would never have a problem with this. I once had a discussion with my sister on this and she went like I would rather he do the halal then the haram. Also I would be happy with a partner who can share my load and we could be best friends. I was honoured to hear this. Not as a man, but as a muslim knowing someone is willing to sacrifice some desire or arbitrary pleasure in submission to their Lord. Ofcourse this implies that the husband who decides to marry multiple wives knows the strict obligations that come with this and that if he can't then Allah forbids him from going forward with it. And I know this concept has been tarniahed in large part due to some men failing at it. But let's be honest, it is overblown. How many 2nd wives have we actually come across? Yep. All we know about it are mostly from internet cases or media or some other distant knowledge. It is like the hypocrisy of the haters of Islam criticising the concept of marrying early while simultaneously encouraging having 'safe' explicit relations in schools in the name of discovering oneself. That is why we see all these 14 15 year old teen moms. But no one criticises that. Goes to show they have a problem with the institution of marriage. Remember the hadith of satan being the happiest when a divorce or disagreement takes place in marriage (can't remember the exact thing).

A rather secular argument could also have been made by me, like for example how women are hypergamous, the concept of the alpha male, the coolage effect in men, how the desires of men and women are different yet complement, how the man desires women more than the women desires men leading to a man finding it hard to settle on only 1 even if you look at it from history, psychology, evolutionarily etc etc but as muslims we basically hear and obey. I would encourage men to take the first wife's opinion into consideration, especially the times we live in with all the indoctrination and colonial mindsets (afterall only 20th century women seem to mind this, but again 99% of women will have only 1 opinion about it. I guess you can guess which one would that be ;) So what purpose did this 'asking' really serve. But again I really don't know, I am a nobody with no formal knowledge of Islam. This is what I have heard and haven't found any ruling obligation the first wife's permission although I have come across scholars saying women can stipulate against it in their contract. I have mixed feelings on that too though. I mean can we make haram what has been made halal. Food for thought. The only purpose for more than wife was to help the widows and orphan girls in a societal culture where women have male guardianship, and needed this during time’s of war. If a man marries for selfish reasons or reason of lust then God swt will judge him. The whole argument that there are more women than men is also invalid, and untrue. Many societies have more women than men, and yoy would need to stratify the ratio based on marital age and religion. It has been proven that polygamy psychology affects women and children negatively (there’s been a lot of scientific evidence for this) and so it can only be done in certain situations (with the primary purpose of helping widows and orphans!) if you believe that there are sexual reasons or other reasons that men are allowed to do this then I’ll leave you to it because I know one day you will be shown the truth of what you used to do and believe. Men and women will be judged based on their intention for their actions. And twisting quranic words for individual rather than societal benefit will come to light and be judged for what it is. Yeh okay but in this current day and age marrying ONE person is the norm and is generally what a woman expects when entering marriage with a man- it's an unspoken rule, there doesn't need to be a contract stating this in advance it is just the way it is now, especially in the Western world. The clause is only allowed for a woman to be able to divorce her husband should he remarry, otherwise she is not allowed to divorce just because he got another wife. Allah has allowed polygyny for men, therefore if a husband breaks contract and remarries it is not haram for him to do so. The clause in the contract is ONLY so that the woman is allowed to divorce him. It does not bind him to not being allowed to have another wife.

Secret marriages is something that hurts everyone involved, yet it happens all the time. The choice to lie, to be deceitful is made by many while knowing a real muslim does not cheat, lie or hurt their wife. The wounds we give ourselves are the ones that hurt the most. Being there when he had nothing, being the women behind his success means nothing a cheater would throw would still throw his wife under the bus to entertain a hoe. Most cheaters don’t wanna rock the boat for their kid/s sake so they lie, cheat to hide their secret marriage. They dont tell their wives their plan for second relationship not because they don’t want to hurt their wife but because most wives wouldn’t consent to being a option and would prefer to leave with their dignity. Most men the thought of another marriage would not even enter their minds. How could they take responsibility of another women when they cant fulfil the needs of the one they have. A lot of empathy and strength is required to do the right thing for everyone involved. Acting selfish, some people do make a sad/bad situation worse by opening a the door to a a third person. Instead of working together to strengthen the existing marriage . A real man would not look for what is missing in his life but being grateful for his family and wouldn’t risk losing his family for a characterless person. Being grateful for what we have is the key to value “normal” relationships with all its ups and downs. Most men love their ego being stroke, taken care of financially, physically emotionally by todays women but when it comes to doing their part they most likely fail miserably. They soon feel restless/bored, physically unsatisfied, and suffocated by the relationship - not knowing they are actually addicted to the rush of a new relationship. Marriage is not for everyone, especially not for the “players” a.k.a. “users” narcissistic among us. Though seemingly nice enough, they sorely lack the capacity for authentic love and intimacy. Hard as it might sound, sometimes these “pseudo nice guys/girls” often come across as spoilt old brats to me. Marriage [and adulthood] requires a certain amount of maturity to wade through successfully. It is also important to understand that wanting new relationships is a pattern hard to break for the immature. Everything new becomes old. One common reason that married men want more women. They feel old age creeping up, and as a result immaturely desire the thrill of an new relationship to feel like they are still in the game. If you observe, these kinds usually end up finding younger, immature trash and awestruck/gold-digger kind of counterparts. These men are generally not looking for meaningful relationships, but instead, replacements/upgrades to cater to their ego driven desires. Most men in today’s time have it ALL at home and still want MORE women but without the financial, emotional responsibility. If they realised how many men women ignore because they fear ALLAH even when their emotional, sexual , financial needs are not being met, these men may think twice. The wife works during school time to contribute financially and cleans, takes care of the home, kids too. She is his biggest cheerleader, NEVER denies him sex, same freaky as he is, laughs with him like she's one of the homies, never nags him, always listens, and he STILL thinks grass is greener in the other side. A lot of these men don't complain about their wives because SHE is not the problem. They just like to boost their ego with attention from other women, so as soon as they meet someone desperate enough to settle for 2nd place She is probably less educated, less attractive and less accomplished than his wife, desperate for attention, validation or affection, so she settles for 2nd place with the intention to replace the first. They both win- he can prove "he still got it" and she gets some temporary affection, and the whole time they BOTH know, he will may never leave his wife. Knowing a homewreaker will be considered merely a “mistress” under the law. She cannot be on his insurance or receive any social security benefits when she gets older she will stay until she has ruined everything. Many men don’t understand how emotional women can be. Men prefer logic and no emotion. I think the men are flattered when another woman is attracted to them. Men think that they can keep all women equally happy. Children hate the entire situation and are traumatised by the thought parents may divorce or living with unhappy parents. In-laws, extended families take up sides. Some take the side of the betrayer blaming the women for working, or being just a housewife, not satisfying or taking care of their men so he doesnt stray, blaming the wife for not looking youthful, insulting her for putting on weight after having children, grudging her of spending her husbands money, not being a sacrificing pious women to allow husband to make his haram relationship halal. Theres others who would be horrified and hurt that someone close to them can be so disloyal, deceitful to another human being.

It makes a person so attached to its target that reality is overlooked. The conditions to understand reality include an objectivity to it. It means acceptance of reality whether palatable or bitter, whether it is for personal gain or against it. These conditions are not in line with the dictates of desire. In another verse Almighty Allah puts forth this truth in even stronger terms. He calls desire the god of some human beings. He says: Have you seen him who has taken his desire to be his god? (Q 25:43). Such a god has been condemned in the strongest terms in Hadith. The Prophet (s) has said: There is no god under the sky that has been worshipped other than Allah that is worse than the desire. (Taken from Tafsīr Namūne). No other deity is as despicable as the human being’s own desire. Imam al-Sādiq (a) says: Be apprehensive of your desires in the same way as you are apprehensive of your enemies. For there is no greater enemy for human beings than their own desires and what their tongues reap (Al-Kulaynī, al-Kāfī, 2: 336.) Following of desires is often not recognized for the lowly quality it is. It can be masqueraded as freedom, having fun, being with the masses, etc. It clads a veil over the person as well as others who are exposed to him. Only those who have insight and reflect on reality are able to see through it. This verse reminds us of the danger! Polygamy marriages come under desires!

The only purpose for more than wife was to help the widows and orphan girls in a societal culture where women have male guardianship, and needed this during time’s of war. If a man marries for selfish reasons or reason of lust then God swt will judge him. The whole argument that there are more women than men is also invalid, and untrue. Many societies have more women than men, and yoy would need to stratify the ratio based on marital age and religion. It has been proven that polygamy psychology affects women and children negatively (there’s been a lot of scientific evidence for this) and so it can only be done in certain situations (with the primary purpose of helping widows and orphans!) if you believe that there are sexual reasons or other reasons that men are allowed to do this then I’ll leave you to it because I know one day you will be shown the truth of what you used to do and believe. Men and women will be judged based on their intention for their actions.

And it's my father for all of his life he used to work in UAE, to get us a better life, our mother raised us in our country 4 kids on her own he used to come see us after every 5 years and he wouldn't stay long, anyways in 2012 he married a women in UAE, he got her pregnent and sent her back home but in a different city, long story short, my mother found out about it when they had their 2 child from his own aunt, my mother wanted a divorce but he said he divorced the 2 wife along time ago but he lied, recently me and my younger sibling wanted to come and study outside the country he took us to the city he's other wife lives and found out that he had 3 more other children😢 We begged him to tell our mother because she will be devastated he promised to take her to hajj and tell her that he never divorced he's 2 wife and they have 5 children, ask for forgiveness that he lied. it's been 2 years now and about 3 months ago he went back home l called him and told him to tell our mother now that you are with her he refused and l don't know what to do? Iam so close with my mother she is my best friend.

But the main point many women ignore like he says when making contract just make sure you include the clause that he can’t marry another wife or has to inform you. It’s your protection my sisters and I have been vocal about this to many of my cousins as many girls become victims of 2nd marriages in my country so educate yourselves about this topics to make sure you are protected. Prophet Muhammad (saw) didn't do any secret marriage,no any sahabi did secret marriage , no any quran verse telling you can marry secretly without telling first wife . Marry women as your choise doesn't mean you can marry secretly. ALLAH clearly saying doesn't like secret mistress in quran then keeping secret wife just like secret mistress. I am saying that if I was to perform a marriage I’d follow the law of the land, asking him if this is his 1st or 2nd marriage (divorce or getting an extra wife). Most Imams don’t proceed a nikkah ceremony until the couple go through counseling. They won’t get any couple married like that because too many problems are happening after marriage. In Pakistan, they have imams get a signature by the 1st wife being aware of it. Too many scam marriages happen in Pakistan. It’s a scam when you do it secretly. What if your dad did this to your mom.
