Great flight, I did my PPL training and checkride at OKV in that plane that was your traffic coming into Winchester (Cessna 57E)! Now I'm a man with a Mooney as well, looking forward to watching more of your videos

And just curious, what happened to your IFR you filed (i.e. why did you have to get a pop-up)?

Great question Zachary, I don't really know... I filed beginning from a RNAV waypoint just south of the VZ bridge - I believe it was TICKL. For some reason Newark tower couldn't find it. In hindsight I should have filed departing from KEWR. That would have guaranteed I could pick it up.

Fantastic video! I hope to be able to fly the SFRA Skyline route someday. Question: because you were at 1500 - 2000 FT, cleared through the Class Bravo, and under positive control, did that not require you to make the mandatory reporting point calls along the river? If you were at 1300 ft or lower, is that when you make the calls? Thanks!

Austin, that's pretty close. There are actually two defined transition routes: the SKYLINE ROUTE, and the HUDSON RIVER EXCLUSION zone. The former begins at or above 1,300. The latter runs surface to 1,299. You have to make the reporting calls in the exclusion zone. The photo snapped from the phone is the video thumbnail. I try to strike a balance between inside and outside shots. I'll see if I can sneak more belly shots in in the future
