There was a steam rally in Echuca over the weekend, and several traction engines made a trip to the station to give the train a bit of a send-off. Certainly sounded good :)

The diesel is just there for electrical and air pressure backup.

In this case it was also powering. The train was over the limit for the R class on its own.

At the beginning of the video, I can hear more than 1 steam engine whistle. Where are they coming from and if so, which steam engines do those whistles belong to?

That was another loco from goldfields railway in adjacent platform on the right hand side.
