There was actually going to be a Call Of Duty set through the whole Vietnam War but was cut because Sledgehammer had to assist in the development of Modern Warfare 3 back in 2011, However Vietnam would be a unique setting for the COD series along with the Korean War as the 2 Cold War conflicts aren't as popular like World War II or modern wars in the middle east

Before black ops came out I was in my early 20s. Been obsessed with COD since the first PC one. I had black ops posters all over my room and was waiting forever for it to come out. Before it's release was announced I kept praying for a cod in Vietnam. Idk why they never did a strictly Vietnam game but this campaign and cold war both with their like 5 Vietnam missions each satisfied me. I still pray for a 100% Vietnam macvsog type cod one day

Funny enough I'm actually in hue city at the moment watching this. The end of the mission is actually a bus station now and the buildings next to it are hotels and coffee shops but the streets layout is the same and the Macv compound is similar too.

Real defector was killed by enemy Vietnam soldiers.Because of Mason halinucated Reznov there he thought thtat Reznov was defector.

Yeah, Spoilers, the actual defector was killed in the NVA attack in the MACV's compound in Hue City. Mason, instead of discovering the dead defector, he hallucinates and envisions Reznov as the defector, reuniting with Mason after multiple years of separation. When in reality, Reznov was dead ever since his escape attempt with Mason at Vorkuta.
