I recommend adding some cooked rice in the mix after the 5 minutes, it’ll add extra calories for people who needs more carbs, and the rice actually absorb a lot of the flavor and fluid, makes it tastier in my opinion. I understand the whole point of using huel is for the convenience, but cooking like 8 cups of rice once a week and have them stored in the fridge really aren’t that difficult.

I’m on my 3rd order of Huel hot and savoury. I realised this morning how well I feel on it. I have 4 scoops a day- 800 calories. The plain flavours are better because you can add your own spices or herbs. The only one I couldn’t stand was the korma because it’s slightly sweet. The chicken and mushroom is my favourite flavour. I also find leaving it for 10 minutes with a cover over it makes it taste better.

I just ordered 4 bags so I hope I like them... lol. I'm a truck driver over the road and need something that is vegan, healthy, shelf stable, easy to make and eat, and doesn't taste awful. I like that you mentioned keeping a bag in your van, I will be road testing this myself. I will probably get good use of the little pot if it fits in my cup holder ( looks like it will). @@LittleTipple I like it. I think it is exactly how you described it. Not good Mexican chili but, Mexican chili. I added a couple crackers to give it a little crunch texture and its pretty good. I like their travel container its really easy to take to work with a spoon in it. Haven't tried the others flavors yet. For the Huel 3.0 I need to meddle with it a bit, not a big fan of the kinda powdery feeling in my mouth. Had Vanilla yesterday, for breakfast, not a big fan of the flavor. I need to find something to add to it. Had cholate today mixed it in a blender it was better, still want to tweak it a bit. But over all happy with my purchase. I love these, especially tomato and herb, which surprised me as it was the flavour I was least excited about, but it has a good kick of garlic which really makes the flavour sing. Also really like the Madras curry, nice and spicy. Third place for me would be sweet and sour, again a surprise as i don't usually like Chinese, never eat Chinese food. The other three all roughly tie, all very edible. Main thing to remember is to try to get a good balance of lumps and powder, so the flavour profile is balanced. Initially I wasn't shaking the bag, so sometimes they were bit bland, othertimes the flavour would be too much. For me, these are a life saver..

@@LittleTipple It's without a doubt my favourite of the three! Mac & Cheese is already one of my favourite meals, so I had my doubts going in , but once you find the right water amount it's pretty great! The cheese definitely tastes processed as can be, but that's not specially a bad thing in this case. I do however find that it's slightly less filling than the other two, probably due to the lack of whole grains in the recipe. I usually get by with two scoops of the others for a full meal, while I need to supplement with either dessert or more to drink with the M&C.

I'm about six bags in; I've had the mexican chili (twice), thai curry (twice), cajun pasta, and pasta bolognese. My take: In general, I am a fan. It did take some getting used to; about 3 weeks into it I was kind of tired of eating it but later my body just sort of adjusted and now I actually look forward to the meals. I usually add some veggies as well as meat to mine, typically chicken breast, sardines, or ground beef. I also give it a bit of extra seasoning, usually chili powder, or garlic (no salt). The only one I didn't like was the cajun pasta; I'm not sure why but the consistency was just off every single time even though it is very similar to the pasta bolognese. I have dropped a few pounds; nothing spectacular but then again I'm not the most disciplined diet person so I consider it a win. I will continue to order it: I have the auto re-order programmed for every two months. It is a good value in my opinion.

Not a great look for the brand Last month I looked them up again and saw they have a load more products, so I got some mexican chili, katsu curry instant noodles, caffeinated cherry vitamin drinks, and I've enjoyed them all way more than that terrible mushy powder drink. As a hiker, I've found that the hot and savoury are definitely cheaper (per meal) and tastier than wayfarer and summit. As a vegetarian, there is a much wider range with huel as well. The only issue I have is that they're not even remotely calorie dense enough, just to match my output on a day hike, I'd need to eat 10 meals a day, rather than the 4 summit pouches. Of course, that just gives me an excuse to eat more Kendal mint cake, nuts and chocolate 😉

Thanks for your review! I have ordered the Mac and cheese, madras and pasta bolognese and dude.. its nasty. I dont like the taste, texture and smell. I had such high hopes since I can really use the convencience of saving time which is a big plus for Huel to be fair. They just dont meet my expectations..

Thanks for sharing! I had a very similar conversation with a friend the other day - The way i see it is i wouldn't ever expect it to replace "real food" in terms of taste or texture, but it's good for what it is trying to be - it serves a purpose, it's just up to you as to whether you really need that purpose...

My man, loved how you described it as white people spicy 😄because I knew exactly what you meant, then when you reviewed it further and said no, that was unfair because the spices were kicking in and it was quite spicy, my interest as a Black Woman peeked! Loved your review which was visually accurate and as well as describing taste accurately. 👍🏾

I don't see this being much different than an instant meal, the sort Tesco / Sainsburys have 20+ varieties of in various brands. Except it costs 2-3x as much despite being sold in bulk.

What I find ridicouless is the pricing outside the uk and usa, the euro prices after conversion are 11,32 Euro / 9,81 Pound more expensive. That's like a ~17 % markup for "reasons"? (Talking about 3 packs non subscription buy, but I guess this also counts for every other szenario). Thinking now, that every serving of this is only 400 kcal makes it seem way to overpriced..
@LittleTipple3 жыл бұрын
That is completely ridiculous - I didn't know about that - thanks for letting me know... I suspect it may have something to do with brexit, so much for tariff free trade...

Nice seeing a video with people who are *OBVIOUSLY* skeptical and don't like change. If they are onboard with it, it can't be that bad to un-picky people like me.

I got Sweet and Sour, Yellow Coconut Curry, and Spicy Indian Curry. I don't know if the flavor just doesn't agree with me but nearly all of them made me gag. Could be a texture thing but I was able to barely stomach the Spicy Indian Curry, but had to only go with one scoop of the Hot and Savoury, and wash it down with a scoop of the Salted Caramel Gurl which I did a 50/50 of water and milk. Might just need to get used to it. The Sweet and Sour is definitely my least favorite, immediately threw it in the bin couldn't even get one spoonful down. 🤢. I'm disappointed, I really wanted to like the Hot and Savoury as I'm busy with work but the flavor just doesn't do it for me. Kind of feeling nauseous now just thinking about it. 😩

Just finished my first try of Huel chilli. Two scoops and 209g of hot water were added to a wide mouth thermus flask. After 8 mins, the consistency was good and I was surprised that the rehydration was very complete, with no hard bits. But the taste and not great. It was too hot from chilli and lacking in flavour. In truth, I forced myself to finish it and I would not buy this again.

My biggest question is does it really get you full enough to continue your day? Biggest concern is the feeling of hunger that i may have even after eating 1 huel meal.
@LittleTipple3 жыл бұрын
What I would say is it depends of your level of activity, but then, same could be said of any meal. For a normal day at work, I'll have these at lunch, and feel absolutely fine until dinner. If, however, I take a long walk home and do several extra KM's, I'll start to feel hungry earlier...
