The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this; Fore!, their most accomplished album. The 80’s were just natural. And it was way more conservative than it is now. Nowadays people are too focused on the cringe and too scared to be cringy while it only results in more cringe cause you can’t uphold to contain a unnatural attitude or behavior that goes in against natural feelings of confidence and even slight inconvenience. Nowadays there are also too many malicious forces being active to scam everything considered weak and having its guard down. Considering kindness for weakness nowadays is gaining more popularity among the ignorant ones (that also means among the ones who consider themselves to be highly intellectual).

"I Want a New Drug," with its killer guitar riff (courtesy of Chris Hayes), is the album's centerpiece - not only is it the greatest antidrug song ever written, it's also a personal statement about how the band has grown up, shucked off their bad-boy image and learned to become more adult. Hayes' solo on it is incredible and the drum machine used, but not credited, gives not only "I Want a New Drug" but most of the album a more consistent backbeat than any of the previous albums - even though Bill Gibson is still a welcome presence.

Cool story. Hey, did you ever get reservations at Dorsia?
@patrickbateman32844 жыл бұрын
@@ol4037 No, not really. It was really my brother who got me a res at Dorisa. You see, I had vowed to get a reservation at Dorsia one day (if not during that calendar year, then at least before I'm thirty). Last time I called Dorsia someone actually hung up on me even before I got to ask, "Well, if not next month, how about January?" I thought about trying to get a reservation for Sean's birthday, but the energy I would have to spend attempting this feat wasn't worth wasting on him. Besides, I thought Dorsia was far too chic for him. So anyway, Sean called me at five from the Racquet Club and tells me to meet him at Dorsia. He had just talked to Brin, the owner, and reserved a table at nine. My mind was a mess. I didn't know what to think or how to feel. How could he get a reservation just like that? What made it even worse was that the maitre d' refuses to seat me until my brother arrived. My worst fear had become a reality. A prime booth across from the bar sat there, empty, waiting for Sean to grace it with his presence. My rage was controlled, barely, by a Xanax and an Absolut on the rocks. Let's just say I was on the verge of tears. While having dinner with him I wondered if it would be too late to ask the waitresses to bring a piece of cake over with a birthday candle, just to embarrass the crap out of Sean, to put that little bastard in his place - but I decided against it. I must admit, they do have exceptional sea urchin ceviche, and the lobster with caviar and peach ravioli is great.

Today's hip hop is of the same exact culture as 80's pop and Rock & Roll; as today and the 80's are a derivative of the 60's. Same ole, same ole. Huey Lewis Rocks ! ! !

+Patrick Curry just today is more violent, vulgar and a lot of drugs and alcohol are involved.

He was 34 in this video. It is amazing they were so successful in their 30s. Most record companies would throw you in the trash.

On this day, 40th years ago on January 3, 1984, after "Heart and Soul" in 1983, "I Want A New Drug" was released as the second single of the album, "Sports". It peaked at #6 in the US Billboard Hot 100 and later in 1984, "The Heart of Rock & Roll" and "If This Is It" debuted in that same year and also peaked at #6 in the Billboard Hot 100. Wow, I can't believe the album have 3 #6 singles of the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 which was surprising.

It's been 40 years since this song peaked at #6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for two weeks, even though it's not a drug song, it's a love song.

Huey Lewis & The News are a pure rock & roll band. They sound fantastic in concert and are great guys as well. No lip syncing and no "autotune". They acapella as good as any of them, too.
