Thanks, this was very helpful. Saved me the headache of figuring it out myself after removing the stock seat from my Schwinn and disassembling the entire seat clamp. This is easily the most unnecessarily complicated bike seat clamp I've ever seen.

I just cried all my mascara off trying to figure this out because my instructions included with my bike explain a different bike. Ive been at it for 3 hours and was so frustrated. Watched a couple KZbin videos and still couldn’t get it. I put together 5 IKEA pieces this week why couldn’t I get this damn seat!? Thank God for you.. watched your video one time and boom…. I tried this many times but it didn't work. I put in the seat post as far as it would go and turned each nut once then the other one once and back and forth. But no matter how much I tightened it, it would not clamp on the post it could just slide right out. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong please help

@Lindsay Miller you are a life saver. I thought in no way if I kept cranking it'll work. But it did. Basically you go until the metal pretty much squeezes the bar. You gotta keep cranking hard. Thanks!!

Hi everyone, Similar issue as some folks here. No matter how much I tighten all clamps, bolts and screws the Seat Post won't fix and will stay loose. Please help? Not sure what I'm doing wrong :(

I just bought a Sanford cruiser and the seat has a totally different clamping mechanism than this. I can't find instructions for how to put it together anywhere online. The manual is no help, either.

A tip for all people: This type of seat clamp is outdated and very, very frustrating, It drove me crazy, the seat was always slipping no matter how I tightened the clamp... the only solution that worked really well for me is to upgrade to a modern seat clamp with 2 bolts which stays solid as a rock!

My seat pole fell in pipe of bike and now its stuck

Loosen the clamp for seat on the frame. With a flat screwdriver spread the cut in the frame just a little bit. Turn the bike upside down. Get a piece of wood and a hammer. The wood will protect the frame dents and chipped paint. Start tapping the frame from the crank assembly to the opening. The shock/vibration you cause will break the seat post loose from the welded burrs in the very bottom of the frame. The post will fall straight out. This is a mistake you will ever make just once. - Tim, the original poster

Literally had to weld the piece together... That's how I fixed it lol... I tried multiple times to tighten it. Even had a couple of my guy friends to do it since I'm not as strong. I also tried all the "tips and tricks" that there is on Google. Yet nothing worked.
