Are those actual welds around the bottom bracket shell or did Huffy just paint over toothpaste?
@philiph68195 жыл бұрын
Having some experience with welding i love looking at those welds on bikes, it's clearly been MIG welded because that is the faster method (it cannot be used on alu) and whoever welded didn't bother to take of the welding balls (or whatever they are called in english) so the bike get's a cheap look, the welding down there is probably not the best place to reach and so the welder just decided to lay down a birdshit as i like to call it, aslong as the voltage and amp is set correctly it will hold, it just dosen't have the look of a tig welding or a mig welding wih those nice round movements.

Any bike's worth is going to depend on the individual consumer. Do bags and cup holders and such make the bike worth it? If a person needs bags and cup holders then, to get them after market will make the total price of the "complete" bike more expensive, so it's a no brainier. Huffy is also one of the originals and still capable of making a durable bike. Although, they do also make some....not so much. I'd like to see a men's version of this bike or one like it. Only, I think it would make an interesting old school bmx clunker cruiser type project.

I love my Huffy Nel Lusso and Lectric XP. My Huffy Nel Lusso only needed both tubes replaced but I took my Dremel and smoothed out the wheel weld and everything else has been going pretty strong. I love not needing the deal with shifting on it and for my strong leg's, I can get it up every hill I have tried, although the one long hills takes me everything I have to get up it and I definitely appreciate the rest on the downhill. I kept the stock gearing. The Lectric is just a blast and both bikes makes me happy while riding. The coaster brake takes me back to my childhood and the Lectric XP, makes me feel like I have my old small 125cc motorcycle. It's just so much better because I can ride on the sidewalk or road, and the fat tires makes slick area's, a little bit more traction, and I can lower my seat so my foot can be planted completely, when I do slide sideways. 10-15 PSI and I am more confident now for winter riding, and I only rode in dusting of snow before. It's still horrible in anything over 4 inches and impossible to ride with anything over 8 inches of snow or more. I don't use the battery at all in snow, I have just gone up to 5th gear. I have been having issues with the gearing and I need to readjust the cable tension and set the end points but that doesn't look hard at all the do.

@themondoone63165 жыл бұрын
@@bluemountaindrivepae you are correct, however, this looks like a steel frame which might be able to be "adjusted" to accommodate. I've seen videos of it. Course if it is an aluminum frame, you would be sol. Also the coaster brake becomes an issue cause it would have to be replaced with rim brakes. I dought disk brakes could be done without major modifications. I do not weld. It's actually a tempting mod except as a guy I would have no use of the bike.

Those frame welds look messy but those wheel rims look a bit more interesting with what looks like a slightly wider rim with staggered spokes and a slightly curved middle section. Looks better than the typical super cheap rims with a middle ridge. They look like they could be a bit stronger than the norm. Seems a missed opportunity to not fully enclose that chain as it would then be protected from rain and you could oil it and forget about it for quite some time. Nowadays people are constantly cleaning and oiling their chain but in the past bikes had fully enclosed chains and you could pretty much not touch the chain for months of use. Surely one of the benefits of a single speed or hub geared bike. I keep coming back to those frame welds in my head, if they really don't care how poor the manufacturing of the frame looks can you fully trust it to be strong and safe. It looks like someone on their first day of welding frames.

The Rose-Gold color is appropriate since the technical term for the "navigation star" is a Compass Rose. My current e-bike is a Huffy Parkside with a Bafang mid-drive. They aren't bad bikes, but the 6mm drop out threads don't fit the standard 5mm hardware, so you need to pick up new screws to add your favorite accessories. And the "Perfect-Fit" frame doesn't fit, so I needed an offset seat post and new handlebars to make it fit.

@@BEEBEE159 Do you own this bike? If so, what do you think of it?
@BEEBEE1593 жыл бұрын
@@tarstarkusz No, I don't own one. I just saw it in my local Walmart, today. It looks like a very sturdy bike, and good quality. I am pretty much an expert on bicycles. I ride bicycles as my primary form of transportation. I ride on the street, fast, and long distances, upwards of 25 miles every other day. I only ride my motorcycle, when I'm too tired for the bike. Also, I do all maintenance, repairs, and customization myself. So with all my experience, riding literally thousands of miles on my bikes, I think this is a great bike, and the price is a bargain. I am looking at this bike to put a 2-stroke engine kit in it. I would be cutting the frame to modify it of course. In order to put an engine in a bike, the frame has to be strong, to handle the vibrations of the engine; therefore, that's my main concern; and, from what I saw, this bike is really strong. Sorry to ramble on; but I hope the info was useful to you. Take care...Oh, and I'm an old guy, by the way (50 yrs. old), been around the block a few times.
@tarstarkusz3 жыл бұрын
@@BEEBEE159 I'm in my early 50s as well. In my state they have basically outlawed engines on bicycles. You basically have to register it as a scooter and get custom inspections, keep insurance on it etc. You can only do pedal assisted e-bikes. They suck because they are too much money for a toy. Plus, where I live, in Philadelphia (Lagos on the Delaware), it would have steal me written all over it.
@BEEBEE1593 жыл бұрын
@@tarstarkusz I live in Florida; and we still have a lot of freedom. Even motorcycles don't require insurance, as long as you wear a helmet. I don't have insurance on my motorcycle; that's the main reason I ditched my car. Now, if you don't wear a helmet, like a lot of Harley riders, then you must have insurance. Regarding motorized bicycles, I know a guy in my neighborhood who rides a 2-stroke bicycle that goes over 50 mph. He said the cops don't even care. He even asked the cops about his bike; and was told they don't care about motorized bikes; they have bigger fish to fry. On craigslist, I've even seen an indy car that was completely legal to drive on the street, here. I've also seen a motorcycle that was made to look like a rocket or missle, literally; and it's street legal. lol. Theft isn't much of a problem where I live, either, as long as it's locked in a sensible spot.

I don't like the look of that rear rack. 22lb limit is a hair more than the cantilevered seatpost-clamped el cheapo racks. The lack of ability to swap it for a stronger one kills it, honestly. I don't see this as being such a good deal because of that. Someone who needs a rear rack would want a stronger one, someone who doesn't would benefit from it not adding extra weight and cost. PS: Think you could go thrift store hunting and see what you find at some point? Would like to see you do an "old vs new" comparison - especially since most I see in those are big box bikes from 10-30 years ago. If you get lucky you might even be able to get multiple bike review videos out of one trip.
