I know next to nothing about Eldar, but it's fun to listen to someone clearly excited and passionate about their army and the new toys they're getting. Hopefully my Death Guard's armywide Lethal Hits can help ward off the tide of elves.

Maybe The Weeping Stones can work on a Dire avenger unit, lead by an autarch and their phoenix lord doing defensive fire. Notice that defensive fire is no longer only against charging units, but also units that move within 12´. Thanks for the great video! greetings from Bolivia!

Great video. Couple things to note: - IIRC Vypers also have a TL catapult so that could fire at a unit to trigger the removes cover rule and the heavy weapon could still fire at another target. -I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Sticky Objectives is one of the most powerful rules in the game. The opponent either puts a unit into play or just loses the primary battle. It's as simple as that.

Yeah, totally- a Vyper with a Brightlance can also strip cover with the Shuriken catapults and is likely often the better build. I just like the 36" range

2 things. 1. just got a look at Eldrad's datasheet doom is on his card. Its now +1 to wound instead of wound rerolls. Also instead of letting you change a fate dice to a 6, Eldrad instead gives you an additional 3 fate dice at the start of the battle so 15 instead of 12. 2. Another thing with regards to the wave serpent is that when transports now die with units inside you still roll but 1s are now mortals instead of dead models so if you put a squad of wraith units with a spiritseer in a wave serpent and it dies unless you roll very poorly everything should survive getting out.

I'm surprisingly excited by wave serpents with wraithguard in them. I was sort of underwhelmed by their special rule, but the ability to dump them in a place where they can shoot something, force your opponent to reposition badly to shoot back, and perhaps get a second round of shooting before they even get charged (plus potentially overwatch if you're a deep gambler) is nice. Remember also that mortals carry over, so all the Devastating Wounds (with strands) is useful against more than just high wound count or high invul units.

Thank you for the awesome review.!! My curious though. Large block of constructs + Fortune + Spiritseer(hopefully) Tough Anvil that the opponent now has to consider the ramifications of shooting a unit that is probably with in 18 of something as it just sits and controls the middle of the table.

Hopefully? The lack of an invuln save on the regular wraiths may prevent them from being an anvil unit, but hopefully the shields will fill that niche- and I am really hoping they give an invuln to the lords

Mathematically, Path of the Outcast on rangers cannot be used on enemy reinforcements, provided that such reinforcements need to be setup MORE THAN nine inches away from enemy models (which as I recall is the wording - otherwise you can do 8-inch charges out of deep strike). If deep strike distance is > 9, by definition it cannot be

I'll be missing Exarchs as mini characters. Wasn't really successful with them but it was extra flavuorful nevertheless. Hopefully some Biel-Tan Detachment in the future will do Aspects some justice.

It would have been cool to go back to rogue trader and make exarchs just characters who can upgrade a specific unit type. But that would make unit sizes awkward, I guess.

I do feel we've lost a lot of flavour from our characters overall but that the balance and consistency is looking pretty good so far. I hope that holds to my other factions.

I think what a lot of people have missed is that with the aspects warriors, sometimes players didn't take a 2nd or 3rd squad as the exarch powers not taken by squad 1 weren't worth it. However, as these are now apparently no longer a thing, you could take all 3 squads without the 2nd and 3rd being 'weaker'. Obviously with the exception of attaching your Phoenix Lord to one of those units. 3 squads of Striking Scorps, Howling Banshees or Warp Spiders anyone??

Except for fire dragons and spectres (that nobody runs) I feel like all of our aspects just deal with light infantry. Warp spiders and hawks are probably covering the exact same target which makes them redundant. Sure banshees, but they're melee one time traders. Warp spiders being S6 was super important with gravis armor now being t6 for some dumb reason. Makes our glass cannon become just glass. Also Warp Spiders aren't -1 to hit anymore so they're less survivable. So we are depending on RNG mortals with spiders which means 1.5 space marines.

I dont think we have howling banshee or shining spear datasheets but im hopeful we have decent attacks or utility. I am also holding out hope that we get nice melee/survivability detachment rules.

I too have have a couple of kiddos now, so I totally get it- the big tournaments in particular have gotten harder- but I think this is one of those hobbies that can be enjoyed at almost any level of commitment from full time job to two games a year, with painting and audiobooks in-between. A few observations I've made, all of these with the obvious caveat of having missed something: - We can cast guide and fortune 3 times, if we take 3 farseers of each type. - If we can combat squad units with the Falcon, (like the venom) we can get a lot more utility out of defenders and stormies - Exarchs are basically gone, and the Phoenix Lords are now effectively our new exarchs, not sure how I feel about that. It really depends on their points efficiency. - With clever use of rapid insertion, phantasm, epic challenge and strands, we canpull of really nasty Alpha Strikes - The twin Starcannon on the serpent is the only weapon that got increases number of attacks, (might be a error) - Upgrading to shuriken Cannons on serpents and prisms might be worth it to gain extra utility out of detachment rule. - Hornets with Guide and phantasm/fire & fade can be brutal. - If we can use fate's messenger on a wraith seer, that will be nuts.

Wraithguard are looking amazing, especially the Wraithcannon. While they lost consistent D3+3 damage, they're now basically an anti-everything weapon, for tanks, mortal wounds on infantry, and everything in between. The 4+ to hit is sketchy, but outside of the buffs we can guess a Spiritseer will give, its a decent use for Strands of Fate 4 rolls. War Walkers also look great. I'm just getting into 40k (started with the Boarding Patrol) and I'm guessing I'm going for a mechanized heavy weapons list at this rate

Fantastic work getting this out so quickly Brent. I am not going to lie, these index leaks feel a lot like someone let an inapologetically baised Eldar player write our rules - I cant believe they really gave d-cannons devaststing wounds, that is going to trigger people hard when you deal a guaranteed d6+2 MW in their turn with overwatch. I nearly fell of my seat when I read that the Avatar had kept the molten body rule, damage reduction has only been seen as a stratagem for -1 damage so far in 10th. I think the Avatar now comfortably beats a bloodthirster in melee, which is pretty crazy. I really liked your carch on the storm guardians, like a lot of people I think I glanced at their stats and then proceeded to ignore them like you would in every edition. I dont think many people have clocked just how transformative sticky objectives are for Eldar in particular. Yes we can get to objectives easily, but being able to hold an objective without our opponent being able to shoot us off is near priceless. I can imagine a waveserpent with storm guardians inside actually being a key tech piece for objective scoring.

Yeah, it looks strong- and I totally agree about the Avatar, but I am not calling OP on anything until we see data-cards for all of the factions and get point values. I think you are totally right about Storm Guardians too, we just need to remember you can no longer park a transport full of infantry on an objective and expect to hold it, as exploding transports causes battle-shock, but there is nothing to stop us from moving 16" into the midfield and jumping out 3" the same turn with the Storm Guardians

Wraithguard can potentially shoot 2 times, melee 2 times and overwatch at same battleround. Sounds powerful. Granted, you will lose models along the way but still really neat. Wonder what wraithblades datacard looks like.

Feeling really good about some of these new rules. I’m also glad to see that selection of stratagems; in my opinion those were the most important for making Craftworlds work, so if those are the only ones we have from the old book now I certainly won’t complain about that!

For the windriders, keep in mind the new Rule Plunging Fire, 1 extra AP when you shoot from above. So with a 14" move, often you can go up on terrain and shoot Shuriken Canon at AP2...

plunging fire is going to be amazing. would also give you that extra bit of AP for a 3 Hornet unit with 6 bright lances at -4 AP. Ouch! Guide them too. Theyre a bit expensive, but their fly ability to jump up on top of tall terrain, then phantasm back down next turn is gonna keep them alive and murdering things very well.

Have you read the new overwatch strategem from the core rules? You can shoot in the opponents movement phase after they made a move as long as they are within 24. That seems really good for dire avengers and Asurmen.

When the wraithguard get attacked in the opponents shooting phase. It looks like you can shoot at anyone not just the unit that shot you. Therefore the 18” range of the wraith cannons will open up more options to fire at something after getting hit by ranged attacks.

On the Storm Guardians 'sticky objective' it dosn't have to be them controling it they just have to be within range.

I am probably just not understanding you, but the ability reads "an objective you control" and the objective ceases to be sticky if your opponent controls it at the beginning or end of any turn- and within range means, within objective control range; so I am not actually sure how they could ever make sticky an objective that they do not control at the end of your command phase

@@iantait309 if the storm guardians are in range, they too exert control. Individual units don't control objectives- it's the total OC value of every model within range of the objective that determines which player has control. I still might be misunderstanding you, sorry if so

I really like the position that the craftworlds are in so far based on the leaks. I think the points value will be pretty high on our units to relfect this efficiency i am seeing across the board. I wonder how we will atack up against the other xenos. Still waiting on Ynnari news...

Agreed with regards to making it hard for infantry to kill medium and heavy armor. My thought is heavy melee weapons, such a power fists and thunder hammers (and similar options across other armies) should be S times 3 instead of S times 2. PF would therefore have a 12 strength. They would be capable of chip damage overall due to the low damage per hit, so I do not think it would be unbalancing.

Avatar is tankier than in 9th. With fortune S11 weapons will need a 6 to wound and opponent will need S24 weapons to start with 3+ (and there are not a lot). Then you have 2+/4++ with a bunch of fate saves if needed. On top you can give him a -1 to hit via stratagem so practically everything will need a 4+/5+ to hit. Then on the offensive side wailing doom shots with d3+1 hits will break even if anything big attempt to charge the avatar, overwatch and is toasted.

As Asurman is an Epic Hero, I'm fairly sure all the Phoenix Lords will be and page 56 of the free CRB says that Epic Heroes cannot be given Enhancements. (Down the bottom of step 5 of Mustering Armies). So no jank there. I did appreciate the conversation about the Stormguardians though. Makes my lonely old crew of 10 more useful.

You could probably get your wraith guard moving pretty fast if you get creative with all the strategems/strands of fate to run up the board, then shoot/move/charge/shoot again into combat. would take a decent amount of CP and dice but they could wreck a lot of units with those D-sycthes basically shooting twice in a turn.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this- I think aeldari is the only space elf faction until codex, and while I expect that there might be some requirement like having a troupe master in the list, Harlequinns will be just another choice of roster.

I have a Harley army, id like to play some index games with them with the cratworld det. I could stretch to buy a unit of guardians and slam Eldrad with them. my gut feeling says its possible, good or just play an other army?

10th is shaping up extraordinarily great for CWE, I can forsee a few nerfs coming for our excessive rerolls but hey the rules look mighty strong. Even stratagem cut didn't effect us. Both in 8th and in 9th Craftowrlds had pretty pants sets of stratagems with only a few of them being truly good. I'd argue that we have 95% of great stuff remaining, with the exception of maybe a Saim Hann advance and charge one. Wargear strats were garbage and now are strictly better as part of unit abilities, psychic is flat-out gone, and requisition is not a thing so you cannot waste your pregame CPs as you don't start with any. I think even battle focus being gone is as bad as it sounds, cuz in most cases you were better off using fire and fade to guartee units survival or an extra few inches didn't actually metter at the end of the day as everything we had in 9th just evaporated when looked at funny. So, it was truly useful around 10-15% of the time, and even that it always felt like a gamble.

they just previewed eldarad too he's got doom and mindwar, doom is +1 to wound. he also adds 3 fate dice to the pool at the start of the game instead of the auto six of a regular farseer.

Asurman has Epic Hero. I imagine all Pheonix Lords will. Epic Heroes cannot be given enhancements, irc.

The runes have been cast. The twisted skeins of fate yield before me. Eldar in 10th may be as powerful as in 2nd. The Farseer is pleased.

With the twin linked nerf of wave serpents the Falcons are gonna be a valid alternative as it has more firepower. Wonder what Dark reapers are gonne look like (completely unrelated naturally 😂)

As a completey new player to aeldari, I'm not familiar with the models/boxes. Is the wealons platform that comes with the guardian kit/combat patrol the same as the support weapon with indirect fire?

No- it's a separate kit called a "Support Weapon." Game stores don't carry them unfortunately, they have to be ordered from the GW webstore

In terms of indirect fire with a D-cannon, I don't think that Vypers stripping cover will actually have that big an effect. The D-cannon retained it's AP -4, so removing the benefit of cover will only really impact enemy units with a 2+/3+ armour save and no invuln

Just wanted to point out that the farseer’s branching fate is per turn, not round, so I think you can use one during your opponent’s turn as well. So if you can keep your farseer alive you can convert up to 10 of your fate dice to 6 over the course of a game. At least that is how I read it.

I am a little annoyed that phoenix lords are glorified exarchs now, when they are supposed to be legendary figures of myth and legend.

Not really? If you mean "they get put in squads", that's less them being demoted to Exarch, and more them being given their own personal bodyguards befitting an officer. You don't see a king going about without being flanked by footmen and other retainers.

I know what you are saying. I, also have built a somewhat OTT mental image of the Phoenix Lord's, such that these latest stats leave me a little 'cold'. So I've decided to mentally label them 'hierarch's in my head canon.......Hopefully they will be costed appropriately.

T3, 5W, 6 attack models don't scream "demigods of war that are made of psychic energy and souls" and more like someone saw the models, went "they aren't 10ft tall like primarchs and look like normal eldar but fancy, so I think they're like exarchs but fancier" and statted them like that.

Doubt you can auto 8 MW on the D cannon platforms. Devastating wounds converts the damage to mortals before you roll the D6+2, so you never get to use a Strands Die on it.

If no one else has pointed this out, unless it gets faqd, wraithguard just say targeted for attacks once per phase. RAW you can shoot, charge, and if they fight back, shoot again.

Let me get this right, so 3 warlock skyrunners equal 3 destructors? Thats 10.5 -1p s5 autohitting attacks. With shuriken catapults they are much much improved anti-marine chaff

While I understand the idea is to give the Phoenix Lords a particular gameplay role, I am quite sad about how they look. They don't really feel like immortal aeldari heroes that have a millennia of honed combat skill

How would the avatar's Molten Form interact with devastating wounds? Would it half the mortal wounds on weapons with D2 or more? Sadly we lost the psychic choice and exarch powers, my favorite part of CWE, but it seems that they will be pretty good, eager to see what Ynnari looks like

It won't half the damage. Because mortal wounds can spill over to other models they are treated individually. If the avatar gets hit with a devastating wounds weapon that is damage 2 it will just take 2 mortal wounds separately so the half damage won't work.

Is the Twin starcannon on the wave serpent data sheet a miss-print? 4 attacks would be two starcannons as compared to the war walkers data sheet from earlier...

I thought they mentioned that a critical hit does not count as a critical wound. So if using bladestorm on a unit with guide, re-rolling every non 6 hit roll will not help get more bladestorm off.

Lost half of our Psychic Powers, got one fixed per model type. Can only field them attached to very limited selection of babysitter units, costing a premium. Am I missing the positive? Or have Eldar gone from a psychic powerhouse to... something less impressive?

Eldar are going to be obscenely good, but psychic powers are not quite as significant an element of the game as they were in 9th. A lot of the psychic effects are narratively implied by other rules, like the Farseer's ability to manipulate strands dice. It's really good, but it doesn't FEEL like a psychic power, even though narratively it is one

1 final thing. Support weapons are broken again. We are gonna see the same indirect problem that 9th had. Looks like GW forgot how shitty this was for the meta. 3 Nightspinners plus 9 dcannons will just kill an entire enemy army in no man's land. Only other artillery or knights ignoring ruins will stand a chance
