Collectors Choice, as a set, came out a few years after Upper Deck. So when the pack says, "The Collectors Choice", it is just a slogan. The set is Upper Deck. Baseball had a "Collectors Choice" set, just like basketball. It was a cheaper alternative geared more towards younger kids. I believe the first year was 1994.

The difference between the basketball and baseball upper Deck there was no upper deck basketball in 1989. The 89 upper deck is the first year for Upper Deck.

Anytime you can pull Kirby Puckett cards is a good day. I started following the Twins when I first moved to the US (Minnesota) in 1986. I didn't know too much about baseball at the time but some of the other kids I met got me some baseball cards and that really helped. The Twins winning the series in 1987 was beyond fantastic. Kirby fast became my favorite player. I was excited when I was able to get his rookie cards. I love these old pack openings!

He used to be an outfielder for the Indians. Definitely a pretty decent player and for that set not a bad one to get.
