Go to your Adobe Creative Cloud and update to the latest version

It’s because you need to make sure you are creating the “environment” light layer

20 years late. Blackmagic (Eyeon) Fusion has had a 3D compositing environment since the early 2000's and Nuke since 2008. What about .FBX, Alembic, USD and other formats that support animation, textures, UVs?

Before clicking ok, make sure you scaling up the object. Just like I did when I insert the model to my composition

All good until you want your 3D object to be translucent or a high opacity like glass. What's odd is if I import a complex models with say.... 6 different materials used on 6 different bodies only some of the materials are imported into AE? Anything transparent like glass is a hard no but oddly some of the opaque materials will import and some wont! Still a ways to go it seems. We still can't use AE for our product animations as they are mostly glass.

You are right! but its just a beginning of a real 3d world in after effects. I believe its going to be much better in the near future

Are you sure you changed the renderer in the beginning when you created the first comp? It's very weird.

Why not bro. You can add any light layer that you want, ambient, point, spot or parallel.

If you want to know how old and stodgy After Effects really is... just look at their camera dialog box... an old 35mm camera. I'm a huge user of this software - and others in their creative suite (for 30 years now - when Photoshop had only one undo and one alpha channel), but I do wish they would simply update their UI/UX and get with the program. I'm not saying to change everything, just make some basic updates that bring it to the year 2023.
