Thanks to you we did get to use our Alaska miles for a decent flight. Flying Condor next week from Vegas to FRA through Alaska miles in business. While it's not the best product it was one of the cheapest use of our Alaska miles to get us to Europe!

The AMEX-fees is up to $99 so MR-point is NOT that valuable if transfer to US air-carriers. I nonetheless DID transfer so to earn the 20% bonus and already converted most to AS-miles!😊

In my opinion $1-$99 fee for the transfer is not a deal breaker since Alaska charges pretty low taxes and fees on the flight itself ($19-$49)

It would be great if you're able to identify the mystery on why LATAM doesn't follow the same stopover rules as every other airline on Alaska. Tagging on the second award flight in the same zone dramatically increases the rate, when it reality, it should be free. You can try (JFK/ATL/MIA)-LIM-CUZ as an example. It should cost 17.5K miles in Y and 35K in J but when you add the stopover, the price becomes heavily inflated.

Hmmm did you check to make sure both legs are saver level awards? One of the flight legs might be the 2x inflated rate which might be causing the price jump

@@MaxMilesPoints yup, they’re both saver. Alaska doesn’t show non-saver availability for LATAM operated flights. I encourage you to run some searches, to see that Alaska’s free stopover program isn’t exactly as advertised. It was working fine before the new award chart update earlier this year, perhaps some agreement between LATAM and AS wasn’t renewed.
