People have to realize that with more and more human encroachment into these territories encounters like this will continue to increase. The key to this is to act casual, not to panic, adapt, and simply know how to act around these animals. Remember this is their habitat first, we're the ones taking it from them. @@supportyourtroopsathletes6460 I live in LA and had to look up where Naples is. Was surprised at how far south that is in Florida. It's likely any bear or bears in that heavily populated an area are "habituated" as the experts say, to humans. If they're not scared of humans, that means they're going to have more encounters with humans, and ultimately a conflict of some sort, and that means they'll probably be put down. Especially this guy just waltzing through the suburbs in broad daylight. Sad situation. Thanks for your comment.

Bears are my favorite animal but it was extremely irresponsible and dangerous to not notify someone. They just go bowling? It was walking through yards. What if someone walked out their door. You have it backwards. People built houses in this bears territory. This is an alpha male black bear patrolling his turf. He wasn't looking to bother anyone, just looking for a dip in the pool. The residents did the right thing.
@zane87892 жыл бұрын
Uhhh, there's no law saying you need to report a bear if you see one. Also, you're one of those people that think the world only belongs to humans. Crazy. Bears have lived in Florida for tens of thousands of years, and for some reason you think we should just go in and get rid of them because 'theyre dangerous.' Snakes are dangerous, very good at hiding, and some are quicker than a bear. They're also much more common than bears. Does that mean we need to report a venomous snake everytime we see one lmao? No it doesn't. Doesn't seem like bears are your favorite animal if you're not willing to let a wild bear live in the wild.

@@gioiaferrante Maybe not reasonable to call animal control anyways? Cause you should only call them if you're in trouble or if the animal's in trouble, right? Here we only see bear and humans sharing space in a respectful way. And that's all we want to see really. And it's good if this can work, I mean, the humans are anyways living in bear territory, right? And that's ok I suppose, but then they also should be ok with sharing space with bears.
@candicemorgan9792 жыл бұрын
Actually the resource to call would be the fish and game 🤷🏼♀️ They work with biologists to determine if the bear is just passing through (which they’ll let it keep moving or might “harass it” which is usually just chasing, clapping, yelling to encourage faster movement back towards the woods), or if they need to relocate it- if it’s an immediate threat (which this one wasn’t), they tranquilize it and take it to the woods, if it can wait up to 24 hours or so, they’ll set a live trap (these big cylinders that they put bait in- they go to get the bait, the door closes, they take the bear to a safe location ASAP- it doesn’t hurt the bear)

🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ There’s too much fear mongering when it comes to animals and not enough education... this is a black bear- they are more scared of humans than humans are of it 🤷🏼♀️ Unless humans have fed the bear and it’s hungry or you get between a mama and her cubs, black bears will run off if they know a human is around (eg you yell at it or clap your hands; or even if they hear you talking)... also black bears all over the world as well as grizzlies in the lower 48 and Canada, largely eat a vegetarian diet (roots, berries, fruits, etc); the only meat they generally eat is scavenged meat (like they come across a carcass)... I’m not scared of a black bear unless it’s sick 🤷🏼♀️ I’ve even seen idiot tourists jump out of their cars and run within 5 feet of scavenging bears (which is actually illegal where I was)- surrounding a bear like that could also be dangerous if it feels threatened 🙄 but these bears are basically big dogs 🤷🏼♀️ They are generally gentle ... even bears that eat meat usually aren’t interested in humans- one filming that nat geo did of Alaskan bears (which do eat meat regularly) while the bears were hunting and eating salmon, actually had some of the bears come up and start surrounding them and then they just plopped down and watched the nat geo ppl 🤷🏼♀️ Animals are curious creatures just like humans

These bears aren't taking over your neighborhoods. You're taking over their habitat. I wouldn't be surprised to see an uptick in deaths caused by bears. With the amount of new construction going on in Florida, this doesn't surprise me. I moved away two years ago from Florida. Just went back to visit and the town I'm from has basically doubled in size just in 2 years. I'm talking, neighborhoods popped up where there was miles and miles of trees. New shopping centers, etc. It's insane how quickly Florida is developing. I'm sure we will also be seeing more deaths caused by alligators. What do we do then? Just kill all the bears and gators? That'll completely ruin the ecosystem.

These black bears having been frequenting this property for decades, with hundreds of tourists every day without incident. The only time I even witnessed a bear take a stand and grunt aggressively is when a bunch of drunk frat boys from Texas were throwing beer bottles at it. I was going bowling as a fathers day gift with my 4 year old and 7 year old (wifey working). I also know multiple people were calling all sorts of law enforcement to get the bear out of the neighborhood so there was no reason for me to call them (I'm on a group text with people in the neighborhood and they were telling me they were on the phone with the police, wildlife office, firestation (which is right around the corner), etc.. There were at a minimum 30 people on their porches or in their homes watching the bear and taking videos of it in awe. It was pretty incredible. I wasn't alone out there just letting it roam without anyone knowing it was there - I wouldn't do that. But I also didn't want to stress the bear out or cause it harm so myself - along with everyone else - gave the bear space and let it walk around and take a dip in the pond. It was awesome to see with my kids

It was a good opportunity and learning experience for my children to see something they may never get to see again - and other people in my neighborhood were already on the phone calling evvvvveryone (police, wildlife, fireman, etc..) because they didn't know what to do. This isn't the first bear in our community however it is (by far) the largest and the only one I've seen in the daytime (typically they come in the middle of the night and raid the garbage..but even that is rare). I've lived in the area almost 40 years so I'm familiar with the local wildlife..and I respect it and keep my distance (I was in my truck taking the video). I hope Bruce the Bear finds a nice spot to rest and get out of the heat

🙄🙄🙄🙄 black bears are notorious babies.... they will run if you yell at them.. also it’s not animal control, it’s fish and game that handles wildlife ... my guess is he was migrating within his habitat range... he has probably moved on and fish and game would just suggest letting him do so and to leave home alone... Florida is bear country and those living there should educate themselves on bear safety 🤷🏼♀️

Floridians. AVOID bears but PLEASE check out COMPLETE vids about ways to try and escape bear attacks if you find yourself cornered. The one that comes to mind is to extend arms up and to side to make yourself look bigger while yelling loudly. Hopefully bear goes away. Find escape if possible. A BEAR CAN OUTRUN YOU. Bears with cubs are more aggressive. This is not professional advice, just an average outdoors enthusiast.

They decided not to call animal control. Stand up citizens right there! Wtf!? How did he say that in a positive tone????

Exactly.

Can’t fathom not calling! Pray that the no -call doesn’t come back to ‘bite’ some poor human. Sad. We have to be responsible citizens.

😂😂😂 Your not the sharpest tool in the shed. This literally just means to respect the animals... our predecessors. In most cases the police do not help.

@@budknight8868 If you’re saying I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, at least spell “you’re” correctly. It’s not “your”, it’s “you’re” in the context of your statement. Sharpen your tool Bud! 😂🙄

They are more in rural areas of the state. A great place to see them in the evening guaranteed is the rainbow river springs state park by the office nearly every night. Golden glades at the highway 75 exit/entry point on the west end by the rangers station on alligator alley is also a hotspot as one heads towards Florida city and the big cypress reserves if you ever get to visit the area.

Great to see the state has more to offer than 'politicians' and "FLORIDA MAN", "FLORIDA WOMAN" stories.

This massive bear was a bit menacing for the neighbors.
@JB1956kc2 жыл бұрын
The neighbors moved in to that territory on purpose. And sadly Collier County has agreed to allow many more subdivisions to be made East of 75....directly in bear, panther & gator country. they were there first.... YOU are invading their territory. they are just trying to survive

Oh I can co-exist and I'm not spreading fear, it's called being cautious they are wild animals and you don't know how they will react in a given situation. You can' guarantee they won't harm you all animals in the wild are unpredictable.

You need to house hunt elsewhere.... Too much construction already going on East of 75 which is bear, panther and gator country. If you can't share the land with them who .....by the way.... were here first, then shop for a house elsewhere

This is my video and I have lived in Naples for almost 40 years (about 38ish)..You won't see them often. I've personally encountered 2 out here...they tend to be out more in Golden Gate Estates (in the woods) but they are generally docile and not aggressive towards people. You most likely will never see one but if you do just watch them - they are amazing!

Black bears are big babies.., a 5lb dog can bark at them and they’ll run... their diet is largely vegan 🤷🏼♀️ I’d be more scared of gators, snakes, spiders, etc in Florida.... bears are beautiful... I’ve hiked during high bear season with black and brown bears present and even had one smell me through our tent in the middle of the night 🤷🏼♀️ If you’re not an idiot and respect the bears, they don’t give a f about u
