Explaining why isn't giving excuses. It's educational commentary so we can learn about what you like and we find out whether or not we may be interested in them as well!

I love unhaul videos! They always motivate me to get up and really think about the books I have and if I’m gonna read them or not! Wonderful video ♥️

Oh man, you should have read The Lost Apothecary- it was really good. It did span over 200 years, but it was interesting how the time was interweaved through out the story.

I just did an unhaul two days ago. I always give my books to my daughter and my daughter in law. I needed the space. I’ll have to get another book shelf if I buy more books. Happy for you to unhaul.

I really like hearing the explanations - it helps explain the reasons behind letting a certain book go, and it's interesting to hear your thought process! I definitely have a difficult time resisting deals (and a lot of things just end up sitting on shelves as a result), so I'm wishing you luck on beating that as well! Because I have a hard time avoiding those purchases when I'm at a thrift store/clearance section, I've been trying to make trips less frequent (and this semester, it has helped not having a dedicated book Goodwill not on my route to class every time lol). I also try to remember that the best deal on something that I won't use is not getting it at all (there's a better way to word that, I'm sure), and that can be hard to internalize, especially when it's so easy to believe that SOMEDAY I'll use a thing lol but alas! I'm trying haha ^_^ Anyhow, no shame at all in being honest with yourself about what you'll read! Sorry for the long comment, and I hope you have a wonderful spring/summer with lots of five star reads!! 💓🌞

Just added All Our Broken Pieces after seeing your recommendation. A recent YA book I loved is called All Alone With You. I think you might enjoy it since it seems a bit similar to the book you liked😊

95% of my reading is library books so I get weirdly excited when I end up with a few books I don't want to keep. Mainly because I love doing a little free library trip :) I was laughing at your health hazard comment! It's not often at all, but every now and then I pick up a book from the library with some mystery staining going on or a weird smell and immediately return it lol - I do NOT want to be cuddling up in bed with whatever happened to that book 🤣

I also have a hard time getting rid of books but once I do I totally forget about them lol. I have a really bad habit of loving a book by an author and then purchasing every book they’ve ever written 😂 just because I loved one doesn’t mean everyone will be a hit

Yay girlmore girls! ❤ Reason enough to by a book if it reminds you of the show. I love Nicholas Sparks, but the plot has to trigger you. Rebecca Yarros books are so good. Probably the romances are too sad for you, I suggest reading Foutth Wing 🙌🏻

I’ve read 5-6 Colleen Hoover books. I read several 10 or more years ago when she was indie published. I like her books but I don’t gravitate towards them. Verity was my favorite thriller I’ve ever read. I do want to read it ends with us.

people (including myself) don't like Colleen hoover because she romanticizes and excuses abuse, has mediocre Wattpad level writing, and her son SA'd a minor and Colleen hoover defended him and tried to cover it up. also she further tied to profit off of her domestic violence romance by making a colouring book out of it :/
@RikkiPReads10 ай бұрын
There are definitely women authors whose photos are all on the back cover, haha. Def a back in the day thing. re: CoHo - because she romanticizes domestic violence, misogyny, abuse in general, etc. Her son has been reported to have committed SA on others and she supported him throughout, etc. It's just the fact that she's not a good person, then her writing.

I don't know why people don't like Colleen Hoover. I like her. My favorite from her is Layla,Verity and Confess. I did a unhaul the other day. Somebody bought The Maiden s and The light we lost. I dnf them..
@scionsilverbeat814910 ай бұрын
Mainly for two reasons: Firstly, her books being marketed as romances. That she portrays problematic relationships in itself isn’t an issue because toxic dynamic is worth exploration. But her books aren’t acknowledged as such. The narratives themselves aren’t self-aware and teenage readers celebrate these stories as being the epitome of great romance. Secondly, Colleen Hoover herself is infamous for how she’s behaved. Namely, supporting the production of colouring books of all things, depicting scenes of abuse. And worse, supporting her son when he was reported for several accounts of s3xual a6use.

3) Also her actual writing is at best average
@haileyfussell10 ай бұрын
I think a lot of people hate Colleen Hoover because her son was accused of sexual assault and she helped cover it up and didn’t support the victim or something along those lines? And then everyone hates her writing I guess. Also she made a coloring book for it ends with us which is literally about domestic abuse like huhhh
