Planned on chasing some BIG BROWNS this day but river levels were too high so went with plan B to hit a small nearby BROOK TROUT stream with the FLY ROD. Started slow but things started picking up then I got to a bridge and things got WAY BETTER. Ended up with several really nice WILD BROOK TROUT, not a bad day!!

Hi John 👋 absolutely love your video content and great editing! When fishing under a bridge or in other tight areas, take rod apart stow the bottom half on your vest and fish with just the tip half of rod. It works quite well actually and you hand strip the fish into the net anyway! Hope this tip helps you?!

My last outing in upstate NY was also very productive for brook trout; the best I've had this year. There's something to be said for rainy summers!

Superb video. I like your "look-back" shots from your stationary camera. Nice size on the brookies.

Wow, big brookies under the bridge for sure. A little surprised they were still willing to bite after the first one, I guess the combination of the rain flushing the bugs and the increased flow might have played a part. I caught my biggest brookies this time last year after a big storm came through. Unfortunately water levels are dribbling around here.

Yes I was pleasantly suprised. About a month earlier I spotted a big brookie in that spot and tried numerous times to get him to eat but he just layed on the bottom. This day they were feeding and not spooky which was awesome.

Laughing to myself wondering how you didn’t break your rod under that bridge, when you stated, “I am going to break my rod under this bridge”.

Nice John!! Some beautiful Brook Trout and a good size water snake. I think it is a water snake or a northern red belly? I am not sure. I assume someone will comment.

I am not great with snakes but I agree I think its a redbelly. I see a lot of water snakes and they are thicker and browner I think.

Great job. Question if I may. How do you carry your landing net? It seems very accessible. I need a different way. Thank you.

I have mine on a magnet release off the d ring at the back/top of my pack. I also keep it attached to my pack with a flexible cord cause I have a bad tendancy to lose it to the brush monsters! I think there is a link in my description. Hope that helps.

Yes. Thank you. Agreed on the brush monsters. My vest has a large pocket on the back but it hinders getting the net out. I will look for the link. Thank you again. Tight lines

I’m from CNY area too. Biggest Brook I’ve got so far has only been 9”, they seem to be very rare. Browns have taken over everywhere. Nice vid.
