Thank Matt! This is her dad. She really enjoyed this lesson and got so much out of it! Her team had a tournament this weekend and she went 11 for 18 with a lot of great line drives and strong hits. 4 singles, 6 doubles and a triple. Needless to say, she was very happy!

My daughter has a similar swing to your daughter's "before" swing. I see the great improvement in bat path. Did the change affect her exit velo? Congrats on her successful tournament.

@@anonymoususer4376 Good question. I haven't measured EV. When she's doing this correctly, I've focused mostly on seeing a better bat path and hitting the ball more squarely. Stronger hits, more line drives, etc.

This is such a great video! Thanks, Matt. My daughter is a Junior this year in HS. She was 6A All-Conference catcher last year, and, sat at the #4 spot for batting stats for her conference, with 12 HR's, and, I think only 6 strikeouts for the season. These videos are a great asset for clear, concise info that really breaks the details down into very usable chunks to focus on and improve on. She and I will watch this together later, talk it through, then implement the work to create the change. Great video. I noticed her elbow was up. Do you consider this important for the bat path as well? only asking because many softball hitting instructors want the elbow down. Thanks

I think the whole not having an elbow up in softball comes from the outdated idea that softball swings and baseball swings have to be different. There is a misconception that softball swings have to be more compact because there isn't the same amount of time to load and fire. You'll also see this idea creep in when the discussion about whether to stride or not comes in. I personally don't buy into this and believe there is very little difference between the two.

Outstanding. I do have 1 question for you. On the right the hitter has both eyes on the pitcher on the same plane. On the left they are on different planes. Is this an issue?
