When I was a teenager I used my older cousins extensive leather working tool collection and scrap leather to make a few things. Wallets, sheaths, checkbook covers, etc. It was a lot of fun. Your slip looks great.

I wish you the best of success with leather work. It is definitely a lot of fun! It's so rewarding to need a piece of gear, come up with a design, and make it. Odds are others will have the same need too. I have a few tips that may help with production and make the stiching a little easier. I'll send a message rather than type it out here. I have had to make decisions in the past and leave a family business due to moral issues, so I know what that is like. Unfortunately, I may have to do the same thing again sometime in the next year. The change can be a little scary and takes some guts! It's great that you did what you believed to be the right thing!

Good looking carrots. When your batteries go bad you might be able to drill a hole on the battery and use a metal screw in deep enough to pull the battery out.

I’m a leatherworking hobbyist. Although I have no interest in it as a business, I’ve attained a high level of quality. Especially with stitching. You need to check out Nigel Armitage’s videos on saddle stitching. You don’t need a stitch groover unless you really want recessed stitches. You can use a wing divider to mark the stitching lines. Are you using stitching chisels? If so, which ones? SPI, stitches per inch, plus thread size matters too. There are some really good KZbin tutorials out there, but some aren’t that great. Happy to help any way I can.

Great idea with the leather work. You could also do professional re-sharpening and or re profiling grinds. I know some charge around $30 for a 4-6” blade long knife. For longer blades more. Just an idea.
