Decluttering is exhausting - I felt a little fatigued watching you, although a part of me was itching to give you a hand. I could be the queen of closet organisation these days, but wasn't in my younger years. It feels liberating downsizing and easier to get dressed in the morning when you can see what you have. I took the step of disposing of all my old hangers, and now use identical velvet ones throughout, which looks nice, and there's a cap on capacity. NO NEW HANGERS is now the go, which means each garment that looks enticing in a thrift store leads me to a difficult decision... which of my "darlings" do I sacrifice to make way for you? Could it be that in my 70s, I've finally nailed it!! Enjoy your lovely wardrobe and the beautiful pieces I can see you have. I love love love jackets and coats - most of my favourites have been thrifted over time as well.

That hanger method is a great system! I don’t think I’m strong enough to do it, good for you haha. Jackets and coats are my favourite thing to thrift as well. Thanks for watching!

Jean jackets are timeless....I have at least a dozen different ones!

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by the jean jacket comment. If it's out, I guess a big portion of those fashion influencers are out then! Because with spring here, I've been seeing them EVERYWHERE.

So happy you did it! I hope you donate or resell! It’s so important to recycle ♻️ but its better to let go and give it a new home ✨

That is an amazing walk-in closet, and a huge amount of clothes.

Good start. I am working on downsizing as well. I have done it for a move and now every season. Each season, I get a little better about being realistic. If this is your first time in a while, which it looks like it might be, hopefully it will be the same for you. I can tell by the amount of clothes you have that there is no way you wear everything you went through. No judgement. I probably had the same amount before my last move. I gave a lot away and have been working on it ever since. I have learned a few tricks from others, including Marie Kondo, other minimalists and capsule wardrobe followers. First, I turn all my hangers around in a given season. Once you wear and item, you turn it back the normal direction. You can easily see what wasn't worn. I then add a step to force myself to wear that item. You will quickly discover why you are not wearing it. Maybe it looks better on the hanger than on you. Maybe you prefer other things. Maybe you don't have the right items to wear with it. Regardless, if you haven't worn it, let it go. Scaling back really makes your life easier. You can still be a fashionista with less. In fact, you will probably love everything you wear every day and become more creative with what you keep. Also, Marie Kondo's folding method and organizing by category and color has helped a lot to really see what you have. Good luck!

Definitely editing down to the space you have or think is reasonable for clothing or various categories of clothing always feels great. I suggest treating yourself to some flocked hangers for your blouses and dresses and only keeping your nicest plastic hangers for coats. It’ll make your wardrobe feel even tidier and airier. (Your old plastic hangers can be donated or recycled.)
@RebeccaWoodsChannel2 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s a good idea! I do feel bad about the wasted plastic though, so I might hang on to them a little longer

Loved this. I did a major clean out recently and it feels amazing. Now I'm careful about what I bring in and if I don't love something, I'm now going to continually donate.

I'm getting ready to do this tomorrow. Thank you for the inspiration! Asking if you'd purchase the item now is such a great tip. I KNOW I currently have way too many things that fall into the "no" category. That's going to help me so much!

You really find some cool deals. You might get more advice of what to throw out if you broke things down into different segments. Go slow, so we can see ur cool closet. We could see really cool deals you made that arent on your channel. Maybe create some outfits at the end, from head to toe with a jacket... Could last at least a week. Not to be mean but Less back shots,,, pg it up would profit the channel, God Bless
