I would suggest, adding some diagrams with Stand access wind direction to help enforce good stamina access. Plus, it would be nice to understand why a stand was placed in the specific spot. I know you can’t cover every situation, but it would be good to have some graphics

How about you go outside and learn to hunt instead of asking a guy that kills no deer to draw you pictures of it?

Jeff, thanks so much for the info on coyote control! I know the more you shoot or kill for that matter, leads to a bigger pack! My opinion is that if you “occasionally see a yote go ahead and shoot. But the only reason to try to eliminate is for the deer herd,you have already lost the battle…… More deer equals small coyote populations that in conjunction with quality habitat actually keeps all of the inhabitants in balance!! That’s why I support Ducks Unlimited. Everything they do supports all wildlife!!! This Dumb A whitetail new program for money does absolutely nothing!And I think everyone should know that it’s all about putting money in their pocket 😢

I'm using old bath tubs for water holes. Painted black and/or green. Use a IBC tote about 50' away connected with with a garden hose and check valve, Fills automatically and I don't have to be at the hole.

Good morning Jeff, again thanks for the great video on blind placement. I am wondering why the manufactures of these expensive blinds don't make them in camouflaged colors. They could make them with a tree pattern on them for use in the woods etc.. Wouldn't this help with making them lees visible to the deer. Thanks and have a great day.

I personally built my deer blind based on a you tube octagon 6x6 design with deer view windows from Texas. Most the lumber I had locally sawed at a mill from hemlock and the rest I bought from the hardware store -1300$. Built to last. In 10-15 years may have to build a new one but I just can’t see spending 3-4x that for one of the store bought setups

The cool thing is...those Rednecks will last decades...or more 😉 I would guess a lifetime for most folks. And their kids.

@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 That's always true - quality stuff will outlast the buyer. Cheap in the long run. There again - a well made home-built blind will do the same. Can't go wrong with either one.

Awesome blind. What are your thoughts about ground hunting. Want to start doing it more. Just so much easier than hanging tons of stands. But. You sure don’t get the height advantage

I agree with your setups. My Rednecks are typically tucked back into cover vs being in the middle of a plot. How do you think the Drury's get away with it? Kind of a loaded question, but they are literally in the middle of their fields.

Hi Lawrence...that's great to hear! They do so for a couple of reasons, but both boil down to a lack of deer hunting pressure. They hunt in fantasy land states that have an extremely low # of hunters so the deer are much less wary than most deer hunting states. Also, those setups are rarely hunted other than to go in and kill a big buck when the cameras show one is in front of them during daylight. Just a different game based on a lack of hunting pressure for bucks much less wary of human intrusion or human objects. That makes hidden wat makes, blinds or trail canes more of a mute point.

Thanks for this perspective Jeff. Ive got a lot of work to do to improve our stand locations. I have a redneck I didn’t hunt out of last year because we put it in the wrong location. What a waste. Time to get after it.

I found a folding chair with a blind attached. I bought it hopefully it will be something beneficial to where I am trying to sneak in and hunt this year. As I need to get in and disappear quickly. It may be a bad concept/idea to try who knows if anyone has experience with one of these ground blinds let me know. What’s your thoughts on the typical blind material can deer see the material? I figured it would be way less quiet and faster than a climber in this particular area.
@chriswhalen71
@chriswhalen71 Жыл бұрын
I tried one of the chair blinds years ago. It had some drawbacks: hard to use on anything but very flat ground, couldn't see very well out of the window - had to drop the top to get decent visibility. It was very awkward with a rifle. You either need something to rest your rifle on so it stays pointed out the window or hunt with a pistol. If you have a flat spot where you are basically hunting a lane directly in front of you, it can work.

I agree with 99% of what your saying, however... I will say putting a blind in the woods you run a major risk of damage to your blind from limbs, or trees falling.... And.... If the blind is out all year long, you could paint it hot pink and stick it any place you want and the deer will not care one bit... Ive done this many times, and once the deer are used to it, they pay zero attention to it... However they will notice the slightest change to it... They will indeed notice if the window are open if they open out... But as you clearly state... Getting to the blind is the most important aspect...

Lots of folks are under the impression that deer get accustomed to a blind and as long as it has been in place for a few months, it’s fine. The issue arises when bucks shift to their fall range, and now all of the sudden, there is a blind placed out somewhere that is sticking out like a sore thumb. It may not spook the deer, but it is definitely drawing more attention from them and they will likely investigate, smelling that you have been there.
