Huge Dumpster Diving Day! People are Moving Out & Throwing Stuff Away!

Howdy friends and welcome back! This was a crazy morning.. it looks like people are starting to move out and throw their perfectly good belongings away again. I can't believe we filled the truck bed up in just TWO stops. I really hate seeing all these items being thrown away, but am grateful to be able to get out there and try to rescue what we can!

Wow! You guys find some really neat stuff. Fyi, at 27:43 it appears there is a bunch of plastic insulation off of house wire that someone stripped. The wire that came out of those casing is going for over $4 per pound at scrap yard/ recycling place. That is copper wire. You dont have to strip the casing off to sell but it brings a whole lot more. Another easy way to pick up a few bucks is to get a decent pair of side cut pliars and clip the cords off all old appliances, vacuums, lamps etc., that are no good. Make sure to clip off the plug ends, stick them in a box or bucket and they will also sell at the scrapyard. Super easy way to grab a few bucks for gas or refreshments while diving!

Pier One use to sell replacement cushions for those chairs. You could check online and see if they still do.

The planters are self watering. Pour the water in the bottom and soil slowly pulls it up to the plant. You guys found a lot of good stuff.

Great haul and such a fun video! Love you and Alex together and you two are so cure together!! Such great chemistry. You really should have taken that wheelbarrow! Even in the shape it was, people LOVE that stuff as lawn décor and/or planters! Invest in a good pair of wire cutters also and start clipping the cords off stuff you don't take. Lamps, vacuums...anything that has a cord! There is money in the copper that is in them. This includes taking old extension cords too. Recycling places will pay up to $1.00 a pound and often more for cords. Just throw them into bins and save up. Nothing you have to do but take them in. Keep the plug attached too if they have one. Love your videos!!

Hi I just thought I would put in my 2 cents, you leave a lot of things people look for at thrift stores, pots , pans, bakeware, and real Tupperware it has a life time warranty if cracks or peels they will replace it, all you do is go onto the Tupperware sight look for a rep near you and have it replaced with new. Or curb alert it most people know about it. And they like cook ware even if it is dented you can take it to a shredder for cash. They pay well for metal. I-may be preaching to the choir but electric appliances go to many can be fixed. I really enjoy your videos and say take that to the tv. Keep them coming.

Great score Kelly & Alex…I’m so glad Alex is diving with u now.. My granddaughter had a chair like that. They love it. So cool. The dog plush, looks kinda like our boxer we lost back in the early 90ies. I’d love to look through all those photo things. Very interesting. It’s hot today. The next few days is supposed to get up to 104*. Thanks so much for posting. I'm sometimes confused about what you leave behind...at about the 8:12 minute mark.. there appears to be one of those sturdy lockable truck carryalls that you see people using to lock up their tools etc. in open bed trucks like the one you have. They are very expensive. That fake plant would have sold too. For sure. Also you put the unopened veggie and flower seeds back in the garbage, put the Halloween wigs back left the Toddler's walker in the very big dumpster and also the cooking pot and lid from one of the last stops.... i guess we can't save everything just so sad to see it get thrown out. Ps. That hat and those glasses look FANTASTIC on you.

Add that hair clog to ur shower drain. It will clear tons of hair. U have long hair, so there’s probably a good amount. The Tamarind sauce should be great. Keep it and be creative with it. 2019 isn’t old if it’s not open. Extra brooms are great for outside or garage area. U should have taken it.

A long time ago--Roy Rogers the cowboy---had a TV show and at the end he would sing a song called, "Happy Trails to You, until we meet again!" Not saying you should sing a song at the end, but I like, "Happy Dives to You!" (I hear birds...A mockingbird in the background. when you are in Texas it sounds similar to Florida with the grackles chirping in the parking lots.) I am a bit of a nerd and I even love looking at what weeds are growing in different areas. I know you might be a little like me when I saw how much you enjoyed looking at mushrooms in Pennsylvania. I am from Southern NJ.

Great haul! The big table top you found did have glass over it. The table top would make a cook trellis outside, maybe morning glories 😊 screw the legs one on top of each other for a totem sculpture 😊

It's really a pain to wash those big comforters. I've done it before. It would be better to take them to a laundromat if they still exist. The one near us closed down 🤔

Good pick, you got a Papason chair..Pier 1/outlet you can find a new cushion. The table is missing glass, maybe it can be yard decoration IE flowers/ivy growing threw the metal design.

When a photograph, painting or print is very old, the paper backing is the tell tale sign. In the old days, some people used to hide money behind the paper and re-stick it down. You're welcome 😊

That table top would make a great trellis when leaning against a fence. Grow a vine up on it!

That planter.. those planters that you found are bottom watering planters. The hole in the saucer is so that you can pour the water in, and the plant soaks it up from the bottom. It's supposed to be better for the plant that way.

You could put a liner on the inside of that round chair fill it with dirt and use it as a flower bed put all kinds of different flowers in it or even as a raised garden bed

Awesome dive and so much fun when you guys are together! Alex had me laughing with that oar! The chair is called a “Papasan chair” and you can buy replacement cushions for them. I’m glad you rescued the color slides. When I lost my home, the one thing I grabbed was some color slides. There are places you can have photos made from them. Thanks for taking us along for your adventures!
