I loved seeing there are a lot of cousins in your family. I’ve never seen them before. Everyone had fun. Games and a second meal. I’m 80 but when I was young like you with teenage children (5) we all went to the Grandparents home. Seven grown aunts and uncles with their family. It was a houseful. Played cards and ate a second time. Even cleaning up and dishes was fun. I miss that. There were only 3 adults and one 7 year old this year. We are all scattered and the sense of family isn’t the same anymore. I loved seeing your gathering.

Tip on cutting that chocolate torte. Dip the knife into a tall glass with hot water, wipe it dry, and cut. Do this after every slice. The hot blade will make it easier to cut cleanly.

That reminded me of Christmases here in the UK back in the 60s. When the parents of that generation passed no-one seemed interested in carrying on these big gatherings - too much expense and hard work to organise especially when most people now work in full time jobs outside the home and have little spare time and energy to do all the prepping. It's a shame really.

We have always loved gathering around to watch your videos, but it has been super fun to watch these recent back to back ones esp more "IN TIME" around Thanksgiving. First off, you and Mike are too cute. Love Mike's glasses at the end. We (me and my little boys) got a kick out of Mike not seeing the slice of chocolate tart, we watched that part a few times over. I have 5 boys, oldest is 8.5 and though I love our time now, I long for the day when we can all sit around at the end of the night and talk/read stories. So happy to see your day ending like that, and with the candles. So lovely.

We call it dressing in the South as well, and it is quite different from what others call stuffing. Ours is made with cornbread and is baked in the oven.
