As a cop, I’ve been here. We went to a park for these kids (mostly aged 14) with a gun. They ran from me into one of their houses. I literally watched juveniles run into a house with a handgun. We surrounded the house for hours while we tried to get a warrant. They denied our warrant. The next day the kids stole a car, robbed a pregnant lady at a Walmart at gunpoint, robbed another guy at gunpoint, we pursued them, they wrecked out, ran from us, fought us, etc. The kid in the back of my car told me he would do a year probation at most. I argued with him that that wouldn’t happen and the naive fool that I was actually believed that. Went to court, they gave them credit for time served (5 months of house arrest) and 1 year probation. Literal insanity. Our civilization is collapsing right before our eyes and we have the power to stop it but we are too comfortable and afraid.

Easiest one'd be simple. If a judge releases someone and that person goes on to commit murder or some similar crime, this crime should count against the judge's track record and open the possibility of a direct lawsuit by the family of the victims. Does this harm the possibility of rehabilitation? Maybe. But if you offered parole and they violated parole, that's different from saying "ah, nah, we're not prosecuting at all it was an honest mistake lol"

@@krel7160 That doesn't make sense This lady was arrested for shoplifting, she went on to kill someone. So by your logic, she should have been sentenced to life in prison. This means that you think that everyone who shoplifts should be sent to prison for life, since if they commit any other crimes after they are released, then that will be counted against the judge's record. This would cause judges to be incentivized to make drastically higher charges against everyone who commits a crime, to cover their ass. Your 15 year old son who stole a pack of gum from a convenience store because he's young and dumb is going to get an equivalent sentence to the lady in the video (which I'm assuming meant you wanted her in prison for life), her crime is the same as his and the judge can't risk getting sued because your kid might commit a greater crime in the future

Who TF drives someone over for “fun”?! Just killed an innocent family man who’d worked hard his entire life, and weren’t taking it seriously in court at all. Why are judges allowing this sort of behaviour to get nothing but a slap on the wrist?!? And then a woman just kills a child and is also given a slap on the wrist?!? Mental health doesn’t mean you don’t know what you’re doing, especially if you’re planning your crimes in advance. It’s not a shield to hide behind, we are still ultimately responsible for our actions, most mentally ill people are living with a condition that’s manageable (for example I have autism and PTSD) and doesn’t prevent them from understanding their own actions. None of these scumbags are mentally ill to the point they didn’t understand but the courts have decided to let them off anyway, and I’ve never been more angry or sickened in my life. Victims aren’t getting justice any more.

Spot on. The thing that is wrong is is the bigotry of low expectations. There is a deep rooted tendency in society to automatically assume the black person must be innocent at all times. This assumption is attached to a desire to not want to seem racist, but it IS racist in its own right. It treats being black almost like a disability where one is not responsible for their actions. On the other side of that are individuals within the black community that have discovered how to make a LOT of money by playing in to that notion and keeping the racism of it alive. In short, a sheer lack of personal responsibility within the black community. NOT because they are black, but because expectations for the community, mainly by white liberals, have been set SO low...and natural human tendency is to reach that low bar as fast and often as possible. Regardless of race.

It’s a damn shame we’ve gotten to this point as a society. It shouldn’t matter what race someone is-a threat should be seen as a threat, period. I hope this officer is doing well and knows how many people he has supporting him-even in spirit. I feel bad for the woman who lost her life, as well, because she clearly was extremely mentally disturbed, but she chose to use violence against someone who had a gun, and actions have consequences. In blue cities and states the police are becoming scared to do their jobs. They can't recruit new officers, can't keep current officers, and have to keep lowering standards in these place. Also, Fairfax county just finished a trail of an officer who took out a criminal during a struggle. They tried to throw the officer under the bus for defending himself. We'll have to see if Fairfax goes after this officer as well.

As someone from the area, this incident alone is making me distrust national news even more. Let me give some insight: this occurred in Northern Virginia, where a very large percentage of the population of Virginia lives. Not ONE of our LOCAL NEWS' reported her to be a basketball player nor to be trans. However, you search up national news networks? They are including that information- as if it is relevant. The incident happened a month ago, only now did the bodycam release (per Fairfax County Police Department, yes County PD- not SO, policy). Even before the Bodycam Release, national news networks that reported on the incident interestingly left out that the officer was slashed before opening fire-- yet the local news' included that (significant events that lead up to and occurred to the incident were given by the department's PR team and through press conference). It wasn't just CNN and other national liberal news networks that reported as so, FOX did as well, "Video shows officer shoot, kill woman during mental health welfare check in Virginia". Mind you, Northern Virginia is moderately/fairly liberal- yet our local news stations still included relevant information. This is just even more evidence that national news networks are trying to divide us as a country. And just as a BTW to further up the irrelevance of the facts presented by national media: with respect to the deceased and speaking as a resident of the county where this took place, she had no sort of celebrity status in the county, and I and many other have not heard of her prior to this incident. So where was the relevance in presenting her as an ex-basketball player? Why was the cop hesitant? As I said, NoVA, especially Fairfax County, is liberal. If there's any place in the state that decides whether the state is red or blue, it's NoVA. Like many other departments, County PD in 2019 adopted a policy where punishment would be given out to LEOs who would request ICE for illegal immigrants. The difference? They actually followed through with policy. In the same year, a FCPD officer was suspended (I believe WITHOUT pay, if I remember correctly) for dispatching ICE to a scene where an illegal immigrant was involved in a MVA. County SO hasn't adopted the policy, but they do not hand over jailed inmates to them without a "detainer request" (see: serial child r*pist and CSAM possessor who FCSO refuses to hand to ICE...). If I had to guess, it's possible he was worried that he would get cancelled or get the County PD cancelled- along with repercussions like that of the said officer. As a "racial minority", I have yet to receive anything other than friendliness and respect from officers in FCPD and the surrounding jurisdictions. I've been told before, "Back the Blue before it happens to you". Been there for almost ten years and still waiting.

@@danielh.5116 No, this time it actually wasn't a dude pretending to be a woman, she was an actual woman. Initially, some people online believed she was yet another mentally unstable gay man who fashionably "identified as a woman" (apparently, a few people in these comments still believe so), but that was due to her simply being HUGE and presenting the typically coarse African physiognomy. There are no records of her ever being anything other than a real biological woman. So, it's also relevant to report that she was a pro basketball player (i.e. big and athletic and a possible physical threat with or without a knife, not some little frail girl).

@@barryon8706 Well, blaming men in general (i.e. roughly half of any population) for violence has been fashionable for decades in mainstream political discourse, so that's already done.
