I loves these kind of hauls. Seeing the months grocery hauls all together is super helpful.

Ooh, I thought I’d add- we’ve started roasting frozen veggies like broccoli and they turn out great! I thought I’d mention that as you said fresh veggies have gotten so expensive.

Your bagels look like they're from the Great Canadian Bagel: I love their bagels! We don't have any locations left where I live.

They’re actually from a local bakery, but I agree that Great Canadian Bagel has such good ones too!

I love these monthly grocery hauls. I look forward to them every month because I can see what others do for groceries and how often they go. ❤ how do you do your plan for your grocery shopping? Do you try to get healthy things for your family, do you get things that you know your family will eat, or do you tend to get normal things but get some nice things for your family to try as well? I love how you include your weekly meal plans for each grocery haul. ❤
@mamatofive1 Жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you enjoy them! 😊 I look through the flyer first to see what is on sale. Then I make my grocery list and meal plan based on that, and what I know I already have on hand. Then I add to the list anything else I might need for the meals I’ve planned. I also have a list on my fridge that I’m constantly adding to, as we run out of items. That sounds confusing when I type it out, but it’s very simple in my head 😂

It was definitely sad when the freebie amount went from $250-300 here in BC! It happened a couple of years ago. Our whole family loves those rice crackers too 😁
@mamatofive1 Жыл бұрын
I’ve discovered the rice crackers so recently but they’re so tasty! Ugh $250 is normal for me to spend, but $300 often would mean I have to add a few extra things to my cart!
@mariakoufalis1487 Жыл бұрын
Your store jumped to 300 before the pandemic? We don’t have Superstore in Montreal.
@kimceriko Жыл бұрын
@@mariakoufalis1487 oh yeah, years before that. I think in 2018 or 2019? I’m in BC and everything costs more here.
@mariakoufalis1487 Жыл бұрын
@@kimceriko Indeed. I find 50$ is a big jump especially now with the inflation not easing up. I think 25$ would have been more thoughtful.

Hi! Any thoughts on getting your little ones to just go with what you make? Expanding horizons? Love the healthy balance with even raw veggies and such. My kids are only 2yo and 1YO at this point but want to just stick to meal plans like you seem to!

Getting unsalted butter when you want salted thankfully is an easy fix. The opposite is what would not be.
@lesliekanengiser8482 Жыл бұрын
I always want salted butter. I feel like unsalted butter tastes weird. 😅. Even when the recipe calls for unsalted, 9 times out of 10, I still use salted and add the amount of salt called for in the recipe as well. Especially in sweets, I hate a lack of balance in the flavors.
@mamatofive1 Жыл бұрын
For sure! It’s just not so simple to spread on toast and add salt. Especially when the kids do their own lol
@mariakoufalis1487 Жыл бұрын
@@mamatofive1 oh, indeed, that would make it a little difficult having the kiddos sprinkle salt. I was thinking more along the lines of cooking savoury dishes versus sweet dishes.
@mariakoufalis1487 Жыл бұрын
@@lesliekanengiser8482 if butter is on sale I prefer getting a bit of both. But for myself, I feel better having unsalted butter because then I can add if I need to. I realize not all salted butter brands are created equal, and some are a little too salty, which would not work for the sweet baking.

How do you keep cucumbers from going bad so quickly. I feel like by day 3 my cucumbers would be going nasty
@lesliekanengiser8482 Жыл бұрын
Mine last way longer in the crisper drawer. Also, keeping in the packaging helps. If you notice they are getting a bit icky, you could go ahead and cut them and they will typically last a few more days after that. When all else fails, make quick pickles and salad out of them. I work in a restaurant, we use lots of cucumbers and they rarely if ever go bad. (They last 5 to 7 days if stored correctly)
@mamatofive1 Жыл бұрын
Oh, I don’t know! I leave them in the fridge in their packaging and they easily last more than a week!
