Currently, the Habs have to fix their defensive zone coverage issues as this is killing them the most. Think they need to keep the system simple and not too complicated since the team has a very youthful corps.

Too many pieces on defence. Everyone looking over their shoulder as to who will be bumped out of the lineup. MSL needs to show confidence in his 6 D and let them know he stands behind them. In particular Xhekaj needs better treatment. Theyve been mind fking him.

Dobes looked really good in the preseason. He is certainly an option if we need goaltending relief. Can't wait for Demidov to hit the NHL! Nobody had the Habs as contenders this year. We did expect an improvement (which we would have gotten when we picked up Laine) I would stand pat and let our young D core get as much ice time as possible. We have 3 very young offensive D men that are going through growing pains and will cost us games this year. I will be satisfied to see a step forward in offense this year once Laine returns. Everyone needs to relax. If a trade does happen, I trust in Hughes. Great show guys! GO HABS GO!

To begin with, I'd like to say great show guys. Next I want to ask the big question, who on the Montreal canadiens plays big and tough with an edge and is fast. The answer is nobody Montreal needs. Jack-eye and Marty St. Louis needs to stop picking on him. He's destroying his confidence. Let the guy play. He plays with an edge in Montreal. Needs that cuz they have nobody else next. The problem is they've drafted too many of the same type of players. Julie 6'3 not tough rhinebacher whatever 6'4 not tough Baron not tough. None of the defense except for Jack eye is tough and plays with an edge

The canadiens didnt have to activate any LTIR yet . From what i heard they want to avoid that. Love your podcasts guys but what do you really think Dvorak is worth given his salary and Cap? Look at his stats through 7 games. His strength is meant to be face-offs and he has under performed. Look at his offence since he joined Habs. We will be fortunate to get rid of him for a 3rd or 4th round pick without retaining salary. Trading him will not make a difference to the team improving. And Jesse, what do the Oilers have to do with Habs situation? They are years ahead of us so only needed a couple of tweaks.

Dvorak is worth future considerations if we couple him with a mid to late pick. Unless he wakes up and stays healthy until the deadline, forget about getting anything back for him, he’s barely a 4th liner in a healthy 2024 Canadiens.

@charles6180 Күн бұрын
@@benoitrobitaille5235 Exactly and we do not need future considerations as we have many. All we have heard from Habs management, reporters and podcasters for months is Habs will be in the mix this season. Trading Dvorak will not solves the team's issues.

You are making assumptions about things you don't know. Dvo might be a part of a package with Picks, 2 young players, and taking on one good player and one underperforming one with the 1 roster space Hughes has wisely kept. There's much more to the makeup of a complex trade than just "This one guy is only worth X".
@HabsandExposFan

Plus any GM worth his salt looks beyond a small 7 game sample,. and also beyond scoring pace on a bottom 5 team for 3 years. They look at a LOT more than just those 2 shallow facts when analyzing the total breadth of a player's attributes. Example: Both GM's saw more than poor offensive Stats in Arturi Lehkonnen, and traded like kind value accordingly. SUre enough, Leks blossomed into full value. And Newhook has the potential to be of equivalent value. If that trade was based on (Leks will never be a 20-goal scorer or more than a 3rd liner), then it would not have happened. Hopefully, you understand what I am explaining.

When Hudson is on the ice, forwards need to realize that one of them will have to be an actual D for a good 20 seconds. I keep seeing guys at the high slot at most. Every single time a turnover and a goal against that happens is when Hudson jumps up and nobody is covering him.

I don't get the comment about cap space. cap of $88 million, even with Price, Pinard, and Laine, they are only at $91.11 mil. Pretty sure they only have Pinard and Laine on LTIR, which would amount to $9.8 mil, so $81.31mil, $6.69mil to the good. Push comes to shove, they have another $10.5mil in Price's contract that can go to LTIR. Yes Laine and Pinard will be back eventually, but you just swap those 2 on LTIR with Price, and you are still $7.39mil on the good side of the cap.

Holes in the Habs game so far....Not enough physical contact...they need to start finishing EVERY check. There offensive zone forechecking is horrible. Not winning enough faceoffs and totally mediocre goaltending that will never lead them to the playoffs. The defense is tentative and disorganized. I like St. Louis, but he's got to get them playing with more grit.
@HabsandExposFan

Scotty Bowman could not coach this team to a better record, or not by much. They - Need - Better - Players. And for they young players to get reps in, with he ensuing mistakes, so they get better. It's that simple. I:m glad at least you are identifying poor play, (which better plating or players changes) instead of like many who are prematurely scape goating coaching.
@Martin.Wilson
@Martin.Wilson Күн бұрын
@@HabsandExposFan The big difference was that Bowman stressed the fundamentals and finishing every check was his golden rule. It threw off opposing teams timing and took a toll as the game went on and fatigue became a factor. He was also adamant about aggressive fore checking. In the Rangers game, too often they were allowed to bring the puck to the Habs blueline with little or no interruption. I do agree 100% about the players. A young team needs a few veterans in key spots to anchor the team and provide some stability. Corey Perry was a perfect example of the value of veteran presence. We've got size but no grit, youth but no speed. We've got goal scorers but few playmakers and good defensemen but poor defense. For me, what this roster really lacks is balance.

Guess what: Of all 32 Teams in the NHL, of the BOTTOM 4 lightest teams in the league, 2, including the lightest weighing team the the NHL, dead last, have 2 of the last 3 Stanley Cups. That would be the Panthers and the Avalanche. Panther do play hard, so it's the fight in the dog, not the size of the dog. Broad Street Bullies was early 70's man, glory short lived, then they killed by the Flying Frenchmen. Saku Koivu, remember him? He was small, extremely steady in season, and didn;t fade come playoff time, he had a SECOND gear. BS that smaller players fade. If anything, bigger players lugging around 240 pounds would. Fading is not size related, These are pro athletes. Hopefully youv'e gained some insight with information. By the way, Hall of Famer St Louis was SMALL,. Former NHL IRONMAN record holder for most consecutive games played, Doug Jarvis, was small. He sure didn't "Fade"....Your premise is wrong, facts prove it.
