When I was young and poor I would frequent a yard very much like this one. It was a bit east of Ottawa KS. In the mid 70's it had a lot of old stuff and plenty of parts to keep my '65 Coronet 500 running. It was an auto part oasis in the middle of cornfields. My lack of education kept me and the Coronet together for quite a while. Then I grew up and took her to the junkyard. Bought a '70 Cuda and drove 1500 miles home to Massachusetts. Looking back I sure liked being poor. Had just enough money for food, apartment, cigarettes, guitar strings and plenty of friends. We all made things work. Now life is so complicated I almost want to buy a Dodge Coronet 500 and hit the road again. This time I'd buy a convertible.

Ryan, great junkyard video!! You are probably the last or next to last generation that will able to find old junkyards like this. While you are going through, keep your eyes peeled for old orphan cars, like Kaiser, Frazer, Packard, Studebaker, DeSoto, LaSalle, Nash, and even 50s vintage Cadillacs and Buicks. These are pretty rare and probably worth something to the right buyer. Parts alone might make it worth buying them. Every day, more and more either rust away or go to the crusher.

You like to Plymouth / Chrysler / Dodge suburbans. I found five of them in one salvage yard they were all two door wagons. Little boy and AMC rebel an Oldsmobile Hurst Cutlass 442. And he must have 500 cars at the time. He gave me great prices on everything except for his trucks. But last time I was there at least 70% of the cars were still there. Including a 59 Chevy California black tag it been back there since it was only a couple years old. Probably a blown engine. Down around the Missouri Arkansas border. Unfortunately a family discussion, I'll call it, is keeping them where they're at. They had a second sight nearby. The only thing that had more of is rattlesnakes in the first one had plenty. Plus other sort of wildlife including a panther mountain lion cougar whichever you prefer to call it. That big cat beats a heck out of a junkyard dog! But those two-door Chrysler product wagons were really neat. There is a lot more there too and a lot of them were buildable. I only mentioned this one yard because of the two-door Plymouth wagons. Like to suburban wagons I believe they still have the suburban trim on them. But they were pretty bare Bones from the factory as far as trim just a utility car back in their day . But they would make an interesting build project. They're not allowing anybody back on the property anymore. I've tried to give too much away but these places are still around but unfortunately so far and few in between. Enjoy your video quite a bit

Morning Ryan, Looking at the Buick Invecta 15;20.
@2001rams2 жыл бұрын
Low to high started with LeSabre, then Invicta, then the larger wheelbase Electra. Invicta was same size as LeSabre but with much more upscaled interior. Wildcat came out in 1962 to replace Invicta ( just like with Pontiac you had Catalina, Ventura, Star Chief and Bonneville. In 1962 Grand Prix came out to replace the Ventura. Ventura then became an upgrade interior package on the Catalina, no longer a specific model offering). Enjoyed this video, wish I could be there.
@IowaClassicCars2 жыл бұрын
yea, i always think the invicta CUSTOM is the highest just because they came with bucket seats (this car isnt a custom, someone put the badge on as they only came in 2 drs) and usually were fully loaded, but yea technically the electra was the top dog

Thanks for the tour of this yard Ryan. I was getting a bit worried we would not see any 1959 or 1960-62 Chevrolets. At least there were a few. We had, many years ago, a Canadian version of the 1963 Chevy 11 Nova. It was called an Acadian Invader. Badge engineered for sure, the grille and tailamps and trim were the major body differences. Tough little car but sparten. The 1968 Impala at the start of the tour, those fender tip marker lamps you pointed out are pretty sought after. They would use a clear bulb in them that would compliment the clear lens/amber bulb of the mandated side marker lamp on the the front fender a bit lower down. 1967 and 1968 were the only year the white corner lamps were offered on Impala and, correct me if wrong, were standard on Caprice, Happy Easter, I really enjoy the tours you present. May Easter eggs in the form of 1959 Chevrolets come your way!

Nice to see a '56 Suburban still out there, existing at all. That '59 Biscayne was in Gothic Gold ? Looked like this shade. Also: Ryan and his hood rating bias ;) That lack of good hood left a hard trauma on you for sure. Buick's Invicta came to replace Century, so even with Custom added, it probably still didn't beat Electra 225 on the ladder of models. Being the intermediate model might make it rare by now, as people often jump for top of the line models to restore, while lesser ones rust out. 17:27 - I'd say a '54 - one piece windshield, smaller teeth in grille, oblong turn signals.

Wow just love it seeing the old classics I really enjoy all of you guys taking the time to video but I am sad to say that I have noticed in the last few years that all your towns and cities are working with metal recyclers buying up these old junkyards and old farm houses just for or the scrap metal and the states are revoking all junkyard licenses and not renewing any of them I believe it’s a plan of this whole green new deal because they know that people are restoring these all classics and they don’t like it because they want it and the fossil fuel burning vehicles
