I’m vibing on this summer. All the backroom and coaching appointments look mint. Zirkzee, De Ligt look nailed on, so that’s Varane and Martial (finally) replaced. Looks like one each of Ugarte/Neves and Yoro/Branthwaite, which strengthens us. And we’re clearly sniffing around a bunch of other players, too ~ I reckon at least 5-6 in all will come in. Hoping personally for Rabiot and Gutierrez, but let’s wait and see. Then the sales are actually happening for once. VdB gone; Kambwala gone, Greenwood just about gone; looks like 3-4 others on their way out of the door. Then we have a host of young players who will be a year older and more experienced in the league: Garnacho, Hojlund, Mainoo, Amad. Sancho and Rashford are wild cards ~ will we get UCL semi Sancho and 22/23 Rashford ~ they’re fit and rested. No reason why not. Mount, Martinez, and Shaw are hopefully fit. Ammas and Collyer (and a couple others) look very good in the youth ranks. Definitely been worse summers. Not saying 21 is coming or anything but defo feels like progress and that’s all I want next season…. And the Europa 😅

Ste, paying more than the release clause to pay in instalments I believe is more to do with cash flow than PSR. The transfer fee for PSR is spread over the 5 years of his contract regardless of the payment terms. Similar thing happened with enzo Fernandez to Chelsea. Increasing the fee slightly actually stretches PSR further overall but it’s over 5 years so not a huge difference

Everyone has a standard and morals they live by. Not everyone can just put what Greenwood did aside and allow the situation to be brushed under the carpet. That would of made nearly every news paper and now other clubs wont buy him. Mud sticks. United have lost so big money and Greenwood should have to pay that loss back.

What did Greenwood actually do though? We have some photos that we can't verify the implied context is right and we have a small snippet of audio that while not good doesn't contain a crime happening. We don't know if the implied context is right or what the audio before and after the snippet shows. If we had the information the police/cps and the club had maybe we would be in a position to make a judgement but when the mayor makes such statements acting like it's proven even though the police/cps couldn't build a case (you don't need the alleged victim these days so if the released images were absolutely proof like people imply it wouldn't matter, they would have taken him to trial). It really is why when it comes to people in the public eye where info is put public on social media that even if they don't think they can make a case it really needs to go to trial. We would have had a much clearer picture if it had and maybe such statements from not just the Mayor of Marseille but also plenty of other people would be less out of place

You're WRONG on why United are paying more than the release clause; First, its true, we paid more to be able to spread the payment over 3years to Bologna, rather than have to pay it instantly due to the clause. HOWEVER, a Release Clause comes with a VAT, we've seen this on Herrera, Martinez who Bayern bought outright previously. Was the same with Neymar to PSG. Whenever a Release Clause is triggered you have to pay the VAT on top of the actual number. So €40m + VAT is €48m. €42.5m is less.

Can anyone explain to me why were worried about ffp??? (or whatever its called this season) We have a maHOOOSIVE income. Endless sponsorship deals. And we only use about 50% of our income on player wages unlike most clubs who operate at anywhere from 70%-100%+ I dont believe for a second were worried about any financial rules whatsoever. I think all this is being used to try and eliminate the united tax that adds 50m to any player we're after. And i like it. We need to be more Spursy when it comes to the boardroom. Yes weve wasted 100s of millions in the last 10 years. But we had it to spend. We didnt borrow or rely on 8 years speaded payments.
