It's time for my 5th and last episode of my yearly declutter series and today we are doing lipsticks, lipglosses and liquid lipstick, so nice to clean my collection out! Angie why I decluttered my whole collection for the first time last week and I was surprised how much I got rid of. As just a consumer who just loves makeup (non youtuber) girl I got rid of 70 lip products alone. But it felt good getting rid of items I never touched or just don't reach for.

I am such a lipstick lover that whenever you pull a lipstick from your pile I'm immediately like "oh thats ___" like when you pulled out the Coloured Raine one and you didn't know which brand it was haha. I don't even own a lipstick from them, yet I immediately knew what it was lmfao. I used to have like 70 lipsticks, now I have about 20.....plus last year I bought the lippie liner and lippie stix box from CP. Why? Don't know, but damn I lovve some of those colors.

It's crazy to me that you have to give disclaimers about the amount of makeup you own when it's your job. I'm a professor, and I have WAY more textbooks than any normal person should have! And I get emails every day wanting to send me more. Nobody should feel inadequate because they don't have big "collections" of stuff like people working that industry.

Imagine if anytime you had someone visit your house you had to give a disclaimer explaining why you have so many books lol. Sad that we have to justify having a lot of things to random people when they are things we either need for a job, or we just keep because they bring us joy.

I see what you mean but unlikr your job, her job is also being an influencer so it becomes tricky because what she does is mimicked especially by the younger audience, and that IS part of how she makes her income (affiliate links/codes). So while I don't need it I really appreciate her for doing it for those who do. It's a good reminder because our brains do normalize what we see often. You might not be aware of the extent of it, but makeup addiction/consumerism is a much bigger and common problem right now that is accelerated by influencers. But of course there's value to her reviewing a lot of products for us , we then dontl't have to test it out and in turn consume less ourselves ... but that requires a balance between the influencer reminding viewers with disclaimers and viewers reflecting and setting limits to monitor themselves. If you're new to this community or not as deep into it/consume little of this content, this may all seem exaggerated but these are important experiences of those in the community. I remember thinking the same way about disclaimers 5 years ago, but I was new to the community. Sorry for the long comment, I hope you see a different perspective.

​@@brainsbeauty Trust me, the same "I need to have" exists in academic circles. Perhaps you just don't have that perspective (ahem), but it's really hard for the students who either are driven by grades or by their desires to be seen as academics or intellectuals themselves to know where to draw the line between professional obligations and personal desires. Academics being sent free books is actually the exact same thing as beauty influencers being sent free products-it's just that the community isn't located on KZbin. The distributors of the product are still hoping for free word of mouth, or in the case of textbooks (or, depending on the field, a wide variety of book types), having them adopted as mandatory books for a course-which, given the markup of many textbooks, is bank for the publishers. Word of mouth is what sells academic books, just like it's what sells makeup. It might not seem the same to someone who doesn't live inside academia, but as someone who has been the outsider, student, teacher, and even publisher, and as someone who's been hanging around Beauty KZbin since Pixiwoo was it, the overlaps and similarities are extremely striking.

​@@khills That's interesting, I mean i agree that wherever there is something to be sold, someone will need to influence selling it. But I was also going off of my personal experiences in academia. I'm a grad student in the neuroscience field at the moment, and while I'm in very academic-driven circles I've never heard of students my age coveting and collecting textbooks in the way people in this community covet and collect makeup. Most our readings come from being subscribed to scientific journals that our universities pay for us to have access to. Maybe it depends on the country/university/field. When I would visit professors office hours and they'd recommend books they either gave it to us to read or we could've easily went to the library to borrow it or our lab already has it, there isn't a pressure as a student to buy dozens of books regularly and definitely not at the pace of new makeup releases. For books I've bought they don't expire or are released to only be useful for 1-2 years, they don't lose their value as fast as makeup does. Many students struggle when professors force mandatory textbooks (especially for just a course), so that is actually a problem in that field, not here though influence is different, there's still a choice thankfully. As you said marketer -> professor is more similar to brand -> influencer which is okay, professors should get all the free books, influencers should get all the free stuff. The disclaimers are for the people being influenced students/viewers. In scientific research we're actually required to disclose things like funding and any conflicts of interest before every presentation, that is another form of "disclaimer" no? A reminder to be critical and aware is always good. Regardless of how similar these two situations are (makeup/academia), if there's a situation of influence then I think it's really kind of the influencer to remind the person being influenced to be careful as Angelica did... I think while it may be annoying to those who have established that self-control, its nice to protect those who are vulnerable.

Do a project pan on the lip products you already have plus a no buy. Set a goal of how many you have to use up before you're allowed to buy a new one or set certain time by which you are not allowed to buy new lippies. Good luck!

I didn't know Angie was a Star Trek fan! 😅 I grew up watching them, and watch one of the series every couple years, or so. It's nice to pretend we'll end up in a less toxic society, sometimes. I just noticed that Bite has discontinued all of their bullet lippies. I actually liked them (had Cava & Sparkler?). I just got another 4 Juvia's Place liners (have 5, now), another lippie (Muted; have 3, now), and lip gloss (Wahala? 1st time trying JP gloss). I'm going the opposite way. I also just received the Oden's Eye liquid lippies yesterday. I really like the formula! Really thin, applies evenly, and becomes transferproof quite quickly. And the packaging is beautiful! I've been falling back into love with glosses again, though. I didn't really wear / buy any for like 6 years? Just lippies and tinted balms. I love how the Tower 28 ones feel, though they're not the longest lasting. The milky glosses are so pretty! And the Colourpop So Juicy? Sweet Mint is the best lip scent and flavour ever, IMO! ❤️

Iiiih, no I got this, I got this! No one panic, no one panic no panic... okay panic a little! Everybody panic!!! Sounds like me when I need to get rid of my lip products XDDD I think I have more than 70 now, but that's because mostly I brought back some old things from the 'timeout' bag. I think I managed to make my new Melt Ghost with the most lipstick feel comfortable thanks to an old KIKO sage green cream lipstick was a first layer. XD It's the only way to avoid the feeling of my lips being strangled to death.

LOL just today I bought a second shade of the essence perfect shine lipsticks! I have the 04 and 05 shades. I always thought that if you had one of the line you'd have the 04 shade, the warm caramel orange. It's the most "you" shade of the line I'm surprised you had the 01.

I wanted to jump into this video several times to grab a lipstick, or gloss to either keep or see what brand/color name was that gorgeous lippie! Lipstick has always been my crack cocaine. It started out as a child living in the harsh Wisconsin winters with that little white glass tub with the yellow cover of Carmex. Even as a no make up hippie back in the day I still wore lipstick. Did you know that Revelon released the color of lipstick they created for Audrey Hepburn to wear in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's? If you are interested it is called Pink in the Afternoon. 💄👠🎄

Sorry for jumping in. I think everyone has their own version of the Jansson's frestelse but if you google Jansson's temptation you'll get several recipes in English, I see BBC's done it too. Here's Sweden.se's version sweden.se/culture-traditions/janssons-temptation/ Some use the anchovies "gravy" & mix it with the cream, some have more or less anchovies filets. I like mine with less filets & no "gravy" because I like the salty but don't want the anchovies to overpower it. God Jul 🎄

This year for me is also a bullet lipstick year ! I have matte ,cream & glossy finishes & I still have about 2 or 3 Matt liquid lipstick around! I have one kaleidos lip gloss 😍 the blue one (the names are confusing to me lol ) & it’s amazing I couldn’t get the lucid lip it was out of stock , but future hauls will have some tho 😻✨💜

God Jul, Angelica! I keep watching this and liking the colours and then I remember that I have three lipsticks of my own and I don't even use them; should I declutter? Oh gosh, I just made the mistake of trying one on my lips and now they're cursing me and my whole family tree for doing this to them; I'll stick to my lip balms for the rest of my life, I don't need this torture. The ColourPop lipsticks I had, I recently had to get rid of because they went bad fast👎🏼 and I was sad about that cuz I had some nice shades👍🏼💋( mind you I had some for 1-2 yrs)🤷🏻‍♀️
