I so enjoy declutters and I need to watch this as a reminder. I was just a “normal” gal a few years ago. My husband purchased a palette for me. I looked up a tutorial on KZbin. A whole new world was discovered and I was like a kid in a candy store. I went from a person having a small makeup bag to having an entire makeup collection.

These are really fun to watch! I enjoy hearing your thoughts and seeing your system as you go through each item. Thank you for sharing. 😊 The system I have for decluttering includes a set amount of space I call "The Vault" where I can put any item I like for any reason. It's where I keep things I have memories attached to (my very first makeup purchases are in there), or things I simply love because they are unique (I have limited edition items in there), I also archive unused doubles of my absolute favorites so I can feel free to use the favorite but know I will always have a bit of it to look at and enjoy in the future. It's not for actual makeup use but to swatch and look at, compare if I find something similar later on. I find it really freeing to know my absolute favorites will be with me regardless how much makeup I use or declutter. Then, I also have a "Use It or Lose It" section where, if I'm on the fence about something, I give myself a few months to use it or it must be decluttered. I have the same system for my craft supplies and it works to get me actually using what I have and would otherwise hoard in fear of using it up and never seeing it again. But that's just me and how I view things. 😂

I would store the palettes you’re keeping for sentimental reasons elsewhere than my makeup collection. In a memory box or something. If you do not intend to use them, then they do not belong in a makeup collection. Thank you for the video, this was awesome 😍😍😍

You should keep some of your older, really special or artistic palettes separate from your collection. Then some day, you will have your own "vintage" makeup collection. Also, it's fun to see palette color stories change over time. You have some truly special palettes.

I have a lot of shadows that are old and work just fine. Keep them away from moisture and they'll last well past the "marketed" expiration.

I love watching declutters, but my OCD tendencies always want people to declutter by colour stories rather than brand or random. I have only ever come across one like that though, where all the products were laid out by colour and you are forced to look at how many repeats you have and pick your fav from each colour way.

It took me almost three hours, off and on to get through this video, so I can only imagine how much footage you had and how long it took you to edit it down to just over an hour. You are an absolute rock star, lady! I do have to say, I’m absolutely shocked you finally let that Lancôme palette go, simply because it is just so unique. Honestly, both the anal-retentive organization-happy Virgo, and the collector in me has often wondered why you haven’t started a dedicated drawer or box for some of those more unique collectible pieces, like the Lancôme or the UD Basquiat palette. Ones that you don’t necessarily intend to use again, but whose packaging is just so interesting, you want to hang onto it. Of course, if you’ve got space issues like *I* do, then I understand the need to periodically clear out. 😂

I think my biggest gripe wit a lot of luxury brands is the palettes are really small and all start to look alike

Michele - You know I appreciate and find most useful your declutter videos. I've not yet tried Tom Ford eyeshadows. If you could only recommend one of his quads, which would you choose as your favorite? Is your favorite a different choice than is the quad with the most unique shades? I'm leaning toward African Violet since I don't think I have those particular shades but you know better which of his quads contains the most unique colors. Would you lend me your insight? Thank you! While declutter and haul videos can be a form of escapism for me, I can't help but cringe at the immense waste that we continue to unleash on this planet. Cosmetic companies, particularly luxury brands, are notorious for luring us in with their beautiful, yet non-recyclable packaging. These trappings are superfluous and irresponsible yet will continue if consumers and influencers do not take a stand. Clean beauty brands are on the rise with recyclable packaging and non-toxic ingredients. My hope is that consumers and influencers will purchase and receive PR products with a new level of consciousness.

My exact sentiments. Just buy what one needs enough and not extra.. A terracotta shade is a terracotta shade. One or max 3 similar shades of a same colour is enough, Hoarding too many similar dupes are just wasteful money 💸💸💸 spent. Bad for wallet and 🌎 🙄😬

I find that I like neutrals and golds. I have six palletes. I use two of them. The others sit. I feel like I don't give enough love to my six palettes. There is no way that you can love so many. You have two eyes. If I use a palette everyday, it will last months. A larger one will last more than a year.
