Such mixed feeling about this video. On one hand, it's so satisfying to see drawers become neat and organised. On the other hand, seeing $$$$ worth of high end products get ditched is heartbreaking too.

Thanks for this! TerraCycle sells giant boxes for recycling makeup and beauty boxes that don’t work for municipal systems. Might be worth considering for these big declutters!

One thing I find very helpful is to write the date I opened a product on the packaging with a sharpie (in an inconspicuous place of course). Then I know when I need to get rid of it because of the expiration date.

Great idea! Also I wish influencers would use the products in a sanitary way when reviewing so that if they dislike it, it can be donated. Also passing on the duds sooner so they don’t just sit in the drawers and go bad before the next declutter

Oh no 😱 that date is to let you know the product will be good for at least that length of time! It’s not an expiration date! Please don’t waste your lovely products bought with your hard earned money! Just use your common sense and instincts, it’s not like food! You will know if a lipstick or foundation has gone off, it will be obvious, but you don’t need to bin them 6 months after opening. And powders last for ages! Hope you feel safe to enjoy your lovely products for longer.

@@JayneWilliams-mo1hk Preservatives in makeup and skincare do breakdown which lets bacteria and mold grow. I follow the recommendation because old makeup and skincare can cause skin reactions like acne, which then defeats their purpose. I have a minimal makeup collection and try to use as much of a product as possible.

Liquid products are usually 12 mo. and powder products are usually 2 years.

Love watching declutters! I’ve been going through my stuff this week as well. Pleaseeee don’t just toss that large pile in the garbage though! If you can pass anything along to friends great. If it’s old, empty it out and then recycle either in your city recycle program or terra cycle!

I wish you had done this in smaller groups and explained why you keep or lose each one and mention the name and colour of them all. Also, why do you get rid of limited edition products that you really like and cannot get anymore?

A lot of content creators will get rid of limited edition products because if they promote the use of them to their audience, and it peaks their interest, they wouldn’t be able to get their hands on it. Some feel why promote something if its not available for general consumption at that point. Name of the KZbin game I guess.

I always give my used makeup to my nieces and friends before they expired. Those that expired or used up what I do is I empty out the bottle (glass) to recycle and I keep the plastic ones to store my samples.

I bought on Amazon coton masks that you hydrate with any liquid. That way I use up my serums. I put over it a reusable silicone mask.

Great minds! I started decluttering my foundations last week. I do a two step declutter. It comes out of the foundation drawers to the counter and sits there for a day or so while I go back and forth. If it makes it through the counter phase, it's gone. LOL I just have too many foundation type products I don't wear.

Love this declutter video! Also Please review the YSL all hours foundation! I know I’ve commented this before but I really think you will like it despite full coverage and matte claims! It’s amazing and I am not typically a fan of either matte or FC It spreads out SO evenly, looks so natural and doesn’t feel heavy or look/feel drying on my dry SUPER sensitive eczema prone skin. I use a tiny amount and buff it in

I don’t know the exact name but maybe buy the drawer stoppers? It’s some kind of material you put in a drawer and it stops the products from sliding around. Just thought to put this idea when you decluttered your foundations just now.

In two acrylic drawers I’ve previously kept for my small eyeshadow palettes (like mini size) and something else, I’m using one now to keep track of the makeup I use up. I finished my too faced born this way foundation! I also finished the too face hangoverx primer but threw it out before remembering. It’s fine, not important. It’s my second one anyway. And I suppose I’ll include perfumes. I used up the roller ball of the lavanilla pure vanilla fragrance

This was very satisfying to watch - you are very decisive and I love that! You like a lot of the foundations that I like which made me bookmark some that I want to try. Big fan of the Chanel Les Beiges line. a lot of those cushions are now on my list to try. :) Also, last year, when one was allowed to travel outside of the country, I purchased the Lancome Teint Idole Nude and I love it. I think you would like it. Nice light coverage but the finish is lovely.

When I love a product in any one category except eye shadows and blushes I do not buy another because I know I’ll have too many. I was th8inking to show him that and tell him: "see, I don't have that much..." but I know it will not be valid, also, I try not to compare what I have or what I want with what others have or want. Each one has his priorities, his interests... but reality is.... that every time I "need" more make up and he doesn't understand that that new Chanel palette or that blush gives a vibe or a color to achieve a different aesthetic idea I had. It happens the same with the shoes or the bags, he doesn't understand that i don't want to go with that jacket if i don't have a bag that it really matches, not only in colour but in tonality. Or that those 3 pink sweaters are essentially different in tonality and that I still need to find one more that matches that trousers. I wish i didn't have this craziness for colours and tonalities, this the real reason for me getting crazy with make up.
