Only thing I kept when I left the service was my sleeping bag, web gear a set of BDUs with field jackets and my M16 cleaning kit...the rest, gone. The BDUs have long since worn out and web gear has been divided up and gone in all directions. Still have and use the rest of the stuff to this day.

You should have at least got a free pack of G.I. Coffee for all that free advertising! Looked like a good day, I'm itching to look at some American surplus the next time I'm in the States, it was rarer than dragons teeth (and what there was was usually knock off) where I was in later childhood. I can remember my friends and I stood around one 1970s US Army helmet cover like it was Jason's Golden Fleece! Thanks for the upload!

I think the "triangular thing" is a sand bag holder filler. An empty sandbag is clipped around the mouth,thus holding the empty bag open. It is then filled by shovelling dirt to the required level. Just a holder that holds the mouth open sturdy. Im sure thats what it is....I saw 1 at Vimy Ridge museam.....obviously different design but the same method. Hope Im right?
