Big changes are coming to mythic+ in patch 10.2.7, let's talk about that. M+ will undergo a massive overhaul for season 4, and we're here to give you the rundown on what that means for you.

It is great to see the improved relevancy of the heroic and mythic 0 dungeons. Only started playing last season, coming from classic, and was confused as to how poor the rewards from heroic were, mythic0 too only seemed mildly better. However it was because of these small stepping stones I was somewhat assured in my skills to try m+. I am also wondering if the numbers shift will have an adverse effect on players when the difficulty jumps on their keystone after 3 chesting a run.

Thanks for the comment @timj11dude. I would think the key jump should feel similar from +2 to +10 since the level changes are mostly just in the number itself. But I wonder how much the jump from a Heroic to Mythic 0 dungeon will feel in the new system since it will now be like going from prior Season's Mythic 0 to +10, which is a BIG jump.

I agree with your idea for the optional timer. I run with a group but also do a lot of Pugging (I’ve got 300+ runs for S3) I’ve seen my fair share of types of groups and players. If the challenge is just to complete it then I’ll reserve judgement until the season has started. But my main interest in M+ was timing keys at the highest level.

@TheThatagirl. That is a lot of Mythic Plus! But yeah agree, there are a lot of players that like the timer and more self competitive type of game play. I am that way as well. When I played on the PTR it was timers from +2 and above. Only M0 had no timer.

The number of people who think timers are the only thing that don't trivialize the instance far outweigh the handful of ultra casuals who aren't doing m+ because they can't complete things under a very lenient timer. If you can't finish a run that gives you 20 minutes extra to account for messups within the time limit, why do you even care about doing it on harder tiers? If it takes you an hour to do content meant for 20 minutes, are you really going to want to tackle harder mobs and spend 2hrs in there? The whole point of m0 being timeless is for that group of players and to do testing. It makes zero sense to add more tiers of that. The lack of a timer only helps people who have the time to spend an hour in a low yielding dungeon.

between 41% and 51% of all accounts do m+, 15% of all accounts got ksm in Season 3, don't sound like a majority for me

@@zhysari3083 you're comparing people who do mythic vs people who dont instead of people who do mythic because it offers a challenge vs people who don't touch it because it's too hard

I can speak from experience knowing people who do not do Mythic+. It is not about the content being hard. Many times it is about having anxiety and not messing up and getting called out. It happens way too often with groups. The timer simply adds to that anxiety.

@@TwoAngryFrogs Mythics are designed to be completed in around 20 mins assuming you half know what you're doing. The time given to complete a key is double what you actually need already. Any more time needed in the instance is indicative of bad instance design because having activities in the game which require an hour for 1 piece of loot is bad. If you're actually improving and learning, you don't need 10 whole tiers of a non timed mode to learn 8 dungeons. If you're still being called out for not knowing what to do despite already having access to an easy untimed mode, you need to be called out to improve because it means you are either not having exposure to good gameplay by staying in the trainer or you have no external pressure to get better. Otherwise, if your goal isn't to improve and you just want to slowly dredge for gear you otherwise wouldn't have earned, it's not fair to make 10 tiers boring for most players just so a certain subsect of players can stay in a safe bubble until they realize they still can't progress past the 10 tiers of untimed because none of that gameplay made them any better. Stepping stones help newer players but saturating the game with more easy modes only promotes worse players and an increased need for Blizzard to cater toward those players at the expense of everyone else. Why is one untimed mode not enough?

We will have to agree to disagree on this particular topic. As far as making things easier, that ship sailed a long time ago. No PvP servers anymore, 4 levels of raid, every character you level to max in the next expansion gives bonus experience to the next character, nerfing Mythic level raid until people can complete it in a reasonable time, and so on. At the end of the day Blizzard's primary goal is to keep people subscribed and people play this game in a lot of different ways and for a lot of different reasons. I just don't see an issue with a check box, which is exactly what we have for PvP now.

You can do a mythic plus dungeon even if the timer runs out, you can ignore the timer if you want to and get one item of a lower ilvl and one item of the same ilvl that you would have gotten if timed. The "problem" that you are describing does not exist.

Thanks for the comment @greencookiegamer. Agree that you can do that but a timer at the start of a dungeon makes the goal different and puts people in a specific frame of mind to meet the timer. With no timer, everyone in the group has the same goal going in to just complete the dungeon.

@@TwoAngryFrogs I agree with this. I'm a returning player, and I haven't done any M+ dungeons in DF since I'm just not sure if I'm good enough for doing the timed runs. I'm playing holy pala and I'm still not used to the fact that healers are supposed to do solid damage as well. Runs without timer would allow me to just focus on what I like doing, which is healing.
