Solid take here. As a Disney employee but also an NFT enthusiast I was frankly disappointed by the closed ecosystem we used in Veve. This is more exciting and still on brand. I don't work directly with NFTs at my job but I do hope that this project is a hit and becomes a direction that the wider company can get behind.

RIP my veve value. I minted the rarest of the first comic books, and have a few from every drop up until the bots started, prob the first 15 or so? the gems and the omi, and the difficulty of moving in and out of the system my gosh. that ultra rare whatever of the first comic book was like 70k value at one point. was there any truth to the rumors of people having to escrow money with lawyers, trade those things for a buck on the platform then transfer the cash for real? and whatever happened to the plan to allow easy transfer of the nfts to eth? if i could transfer my Marvel Comic Books to Eth so i could sell them, the price would 10x. i don't get why VEVE is shooting them selves specifically in the foot in this arena. if's a matter of tech, have the platform copy burnt and reissue it on nft on a new contract. there's so many work arounds to give these things value. the assets themselves are incredible. but like, why do things in the stupid way? i just don't get it. hopefully they change that soon. i already kyced, so let me have my stuff. that's the whole point of nfts. *edit watched it again, realized disney doesn't own veve. for some reason i was thinking that but i wanted to make sure i mention that.

I fully agree here. But I also believe Veve will not stop giving its community all the interoperability they have said they would. Like they have said though the 3D animations would be very difficult to display in other metaverses. But they will eventually enable us to store them in external wallets. All that said I'm stoked for their Ready Player 1 metaverse vision. Their NFTs will shine I'm there, and have function and utility. I love the app. 😂 I'm also a physical collector, but I love to show people my AR stuff.

i did not know they were creating a metaverse. are they doing it themselves or are they partnering with someone? do we even know if the wallet holding them is a custodial, real, or just a platform entry? if they could just give us access to that wallet like reddit did the vault, WOW the Xs in value everything on that platform would see immediately.... hey VEVE, lets chat. i kinda do this in my IRL job every day. easily translatable to your predicament @@Joseph_Brown1986

Great video! Veve is in a closed app because they are being careful with all the US regulation and strict rules with all the big licenses they have. At the same time they want in the near future interoperability and their collectibles are all in IMX.

Love VeVe but agree they have many things they need to achieve. It's a very sticky platform which happens to have a lot of Disney IP on there (Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, Pixar etc) as well as amazing comics that almost always sell out thousands in 2 seconds twice a week. They have been careful to call them "Digital Collectibles" as opposed to NFTs. But they have royally messed up a lot of things, including the OMI token. However, the appeal of VeVe is much simpler and wider to newcomers to digital collecting/NFTs. This Pinnacle thing seems cool but very, very niche. The existing pin-collectors will love it, but can't see too many outside of that world coming to it. Also Disney as a company are absolutely desperate right now, so this appeals to their Disney Parks visitors, which makes sense.

The firsts in new mediums usually are highly sort after Veve did a big brain move and capatilized on all these characters and have a monopoly of the first appearance as a token. Im sure collectors will understand this lol

Im still a little skeptical too regarding them being pins.... But love that they chose the Flow Blockchain. The masses arent going to come to a chain rife with scammers and exploits (Ethereum).

@@tivia4929 very true, however not all chains are decentralized. Some chains have preventative measures and go after scammers so they don't run rampant. There are zero ways to punish the scammers on Ethereum... The steep price of the illusion of decentralization.

I don't see why they would make pins digital. Isn't the whole point of a pin to attach it to a bag or your shirt? I guess they are trying to attract the pin normies to come into the NFT market. Definitely boomers are running the show at Disney, lol.

Love love love Disney especially the focus on diversity equity and inclusion. Id love a collection of female leaders, lgbtq+ and poc focused nft. They have done excellent work with star wars, marvel a d live action remakes. Nft and Disney seems a perfect marriage 💑

I feel like this won't do very well unless they are priced very cheap, and the supplies are reasonable and not outrageously high. Other than that idk why anyone would want a digital pin, a Partners Statue is 100x cooler.

I don’t know if you have read the T&Cs, but this looks basically like what is happening in VeVe. The Flow blockchain is a walled garden. You can’t remove them and sell them on another platform. Am I missing something?

flow is a decentralized blockchain with non-custodial wallets. they're working on bridges. it's not the same as a being tied to a single app run by a company. that said - not a huge fan either vs an eth L2.
