@@skidoomxz550x Fair enough. I think many are disappointed, myself included, it is an aluminum cooking surface. Currently on the Blackstone website from an October 31, 2022 article, "All Blackstone gas griddles come with an unseasoned flat-top grill surface made of cold-rolled steel. Steel is an optimal surface for cooking on because it’s heavy-duty, it conducts heat well, and when seasoned properly, it provides an almost non-stick surface. Seasoning your griddle provides a hardened surface like a shell that protects the griddle over time." I guess Blackstone needs to update their website as not ALL Blackstones have a steel cooking surface. I recently found out the Blackstone electric griddles have a non-stick aluminum cook surface.

RDTRPN1 Bought mine (14" camping Griddle with side burner) a couple days ago along with the "Griddle Leg Kit". As a weekend day tripper, I am compact stow and go. Once assembled, The Griddle Leg KIt does have: press lever telescoping legs with ball/socket locking mechanisms to frame. (No tool needed to breakdown legs from frame for stow and go). To couple the "Griddle Leg Kit" to the Blackstone camping stove, you will need to adjust (Screwdriver required) the frame that the legs attach to so the stove will fit the frame. (Depending on stove, not tough) DOWNER: You will need to remove the nice adjustable footings from the stove to enable attachment of stove to "Griddle Leg Kit", using the screws provided. The stand is sturdy. I came close to returning the stand to WalMart but decided to modify the stand to better suit my needs. The cast aluminum coated griddle is a no brainer, as it is lighter of weight, heats fast and I plan not to abuse my understanding the griddle's surface. (I will cook harder on my home Blackstone)

Both camping griddles are brilliant. Only problem is the aluminium griddles with nonstick. I get it is to save weight and would be really easy to clean. But just like all nonstick the coating eventually fails and food will stick and it will be a pain to clean and wear to a point where it needs to be replaced. It just depends on how careful you are, how high temperature you use and how often you use it.

Tailgated with one today and it generally worked great (even heat, plenty of room, ceramic surprisingly excellent performance, and easy clean-up). One problem was the handle. It's hallow plastic and mine broke just lifting up the grill. Debating whether to keep and try to find a fix (metal to replace it) or return it as I can see this being a frequent issue as it's a substandard design at a stress point. The Blackstone tote has a better handle design and doesn't weight nearly as much.
@domnantadventures716310 ай бұрын
I bought one immediately, so took it home and opened it. The lid was missing the screw/nut holding the lid so it would just fall open, we returned it. Got another one. Second one had a piece of metal just fall off, no idea where it went, on top of the non stick surface scratched just moving a piece of cardboard on it. Not all the way through the coating but you could clearly see where I placed one of the pieces on it while I moved things around. I also picked up the folding griddle press which as soon as we washed it another screw/nut fell off of it. I also wanted to add how heavy it was, I might as well just get the 17" regular steel one. It's a great idea and we really wanted to use it for camping but the quality control unfortunately broke our spirit. Maybe once they fix this and improve on the non stick coating to be a little more durable we will give it another try.

Dang, love everyting about this except for the cast aluminum griddle, I need to replace my crappy pop up two burner stove, seeing as how they arent very expensive maybe I will give this a try. Thanks so much for the review.

Keep in mind. It is coated with ceramic titanium which is pretty much the most durable coating available. You need to use the plastic utensils, obviously. I've used it quite a bit over the past 3 months. It is the fastest-heating and hottest-burning griddle that Blackstone currently makes. It gets up close to 600 degrees in under five minutes and cools down very quickly. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hopefully someone comes out with a cast iron or rolled steel griddle. Bummed this is non stick aluminum. Our kitchen stove came with an aluminum griddle and we swapped it out right away for a cast iron.

Nice video! Im having issues getting a spark to light up. Any tips? Seems i need to push the metal needle 🤷♂️ for it to spark. ⚡️
@praisehisawesomename8 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely. It's piezoelectric and you'll just have to adjust the ignition needle. Sometime they get bumped and moved in shipping. Just adjust them to VERY slowly/slightly until you get them in the right position!

I really like taking the Blackstone with us camping. I use the 17" griddle and love it. Its nice to see them getting into the camping world. But at this time I'll stick with my 17"..IF the stand that is coming out will hold the 17 or 22" griddle then I might upgrade to it. I do not like the old stand cause it really doesn't break down like I need it to for camping.

I dont like the aluminum with coating. Ive put pots/pans/kettles on top of normal steel griddles but that would damage coating. So now would only have the option to buy the one wirh a small griddle surface to still be able to use other cookware as needed.

Awesome video, thanks! I just got the camp griddle with a sign Burner and I have "burning" question - if there isn't already, are they making a bag for these camp griddles?
@praisehisawesomename6 ай бұрын
Hi, Shaun. No bags yet. They are all-inclusive with the suitcase design BUT I can see that you, like me, want to protect it. I just wrap mine in a blanket or towel when in my vehicle. As for the future? Who knows. I'm not involved with development and Blackstone is a large company. I'll be excited to see an additions in the future. Thanks for watching!

the hinges (not really a hinge but the thin plastic around the handle that says blackstone} that hold the handle on are very weak, and are super thin. Broke mine off already lifting it off a table.

Even a 17 cast is pretty heavy for portable camping setup. This fits the bill by eliminating the need for skillets and also has a burner for coffee pot or cooking pot. My son lucked out and grabbed 2 at walmart and also grabbed the spatula kits with them. One for each of us.

Couple of notes: first, for RV/camper folks looking for a low-pressure compatible stove, this is the bees knees! The low-pressure quick connect adapters for the 17/22 griddles also work with this! Second, I can confirm that the quality control is a little dodgy. Mine was missing a 4mm nut on one of the latches, and had two loose screws in the box (pretty sure I found where they belonged). I'm a little leery of the coating on the griddle holding up just based on the other qc issues; if Blackstone wants to make longterm customers they will make replacement griddles (14" & 20") available for purchase asap. Would go a long way to assuaging concerns for early adopters.

I spoke with a sales representative at Blackstone. These units are Walmart exclusive only. Blackstone can not provide availability, etc. only Walmart. hope this helps folks looking to purchase .

Then just get a 17" griddle and try to lug that beast around. This is a camping griddle. Think about space and weight first. The cooking part is almost secondary. Everything I know of camping wise is small and light weight.

As someone who carries a 17” Blackstone and a camp stove camping, I was interested when I saw this KZbin suggestion. You had me up until the point you stated it was an aluminum cook surface. Coated surface to me, equates to Teflon. Not good.
