The techniques are EXACTLY the same for both. Literally the only difference is the weight of the string gauges

The finger method is exactly the same for both Banjo. In fact, there are two relatively similar methods and both are adaptable to either scale length. The short or long neck doesn’t make any difference. I cover both on my course and suggest which might be the best for each person.
