A record number of sixes in Ashes cricket - 74 across the series, with 42 from England and 32 from Australia. The entertainment was dazzling. The best test series in my lifetime. Not just all those sixes but how close every test was. And high scoring too. All the tests except the third (which was just short of 1,000 runs) had around 1,200 runs or more, even the drawn 4th test. Unbelievably high scoring and incredible run rates for test matches. Geoffrey Boycott may not approve of the way these players approach test cricket but it’s wonderfully entertaining.

I REALLY have to get my ass to a venue and see this in reality. I'd love to see/hear batters hitting like this....some of these shots sound like rifle shots. Just immense skill and core strength. I really like seeing the crowd reacting with utter joy.....cricket is the best game on planet earth.

watching all those sixes right up until Crawley, and then you realise how smooth and powerful his shots are, when it finally clicks in his head he is going to be one hell of a batter. Have been watching all the days play from test 1 day1, it's boring without test cricket in our lives.

Hello mate, hope you are well? First of all, the poem you quoted is wrong. It’s not shine a diamond - it’s like a diamond. Surya kumar is a decent batsman but I do hope you realise that Root has more than 12000 test runs and it’s not a fair comparison. Also, please try and admire the game and not the players. That’s been the problem with Indian cricket. Players have become more important than the game and what they actually do on the field. Number of instagram followers is not an indication of performance. I know you may not agree with me but even the great Sachin Tendulkar would politely say the same. Have a nice day ahead.
