I am from the US trying to learn the game. Coming from a baseball background I was surprised how much Butler approaches batting like a baseball player versus Freddy with a more traditional style. Freddys style is more balanced and in control. I know the game is moving towards more power and offense but Butler’s style strikes me as a lot harder to master for the amateur player. In baseball your front foot is always moving straight towards the bowler thus you can develop a swing with more movement and use your hips to generate power. With the batsman’s feet moving both left, right and center in cricket it seems like it would be easier to lose the balance and fluidity required to generate power consistently.
@JMS_Rex3 жыл бұрын
Its nice to hear that the US guys trying to learn cricket..... Yeah the frontfoot movement does play a major role in generating power, but in professional games, batsmen usually score runs with the technique and timing to hit the ball rather than usage of power.. Timing and technique are the most important aspects of a professional batsman Since the ball is rock hard made of leather, you know a pacy bowled one after striking the blade of the bat goes distance if the timing is precisely executed......the power behind the shot seems insignificant compared to power generated... Now the foot movements, the batsmen usually mark their areas where to hit the ball or land their foot according to the ball bowled.... Speaking about good players, they generally land their foot either facing towards bowler or towards the cover point
@ipad0073 жыл бұрын
Buttler is a far better batsman then Freddie Flintoff, ofcourse buttler is the modern genius just like abd ( because of 360° play) .
@Timg12313 жыл бұрын
@@JMS_Rex it is similar in baseball when strike a ball solidly on the sweet spot you get the same feeling. Many people in baseball will call it “a no doubter or no doubt about it” because the ball goes homer run (six). Batted for the time last weekend in cricket. Butlers approach with the wrists is much better IMO. Trying to hit like Freddy feels like you are just hitting block shots rather than trying to play 360. I can’t see how you can consistently play the full field using Freddys style.
