Thanks Sal. There has actually been an update from Skymaster but of course they didn't let anyone know about it. I got some pictures from a viewer. I will share them in the last video. I am more happy with my elevator setup than the new revised one from them. Also I did the plastic shield Discs incorrect and fix them in the last video.

Great video Jonathan! I learn a new technique on every video. Your method of balancing the elevator servos in awesome. I never thought about bolting them down like you did. The Jeti servo balance feature I have used many times. For all your ball links I would put a washer on the bolt head side (nut side too if they are small) to prevent the link from coming completely off if the ball failed. But I am a "belt & suspenders" guy when it comes to RC builds.
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bert. On the metal ones if you look close there is a closed side and an open side that the ball was installed in. Put the closed side in and it will never come off. Plastic ones. Agreed. Different story. I ended up using balls on the ailerons due to angles. Covered in the next video. Washers installed 👍😉

Too bad about the “Normal canopy open other side” decal… “other” is misspelled. Picky, I know, but I notice little things like that. ;-) Fascinating build, as always. The elevator servo matching process was interesting.

Always inspiring, although I’ve only flown electric foamy jets, watching you is inspiring. In fact I am waiting for a 1/3rd scale ASG 29e that I have to do create a forward canopy hinge, similar to that on the real one. I have limited equipment, a Dremel, but it’ll get done. Watching you solve problems, that helps me work through mine. Excellent work!

You don't need Loctite on nylocs; that is what the nylon is for. Lastly, hot tip from big aviation. if you use a washer that is larger than the diameter of the ball hiem joint, you will stop it from ever coming off.
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 2 жыл бұрын
If your bolts don't go through the nylon lock portion then you need loctite or longer bolts.

8:38 looking at the Manual, is the tail pitch control surface in this model technically a 'stabilator', rather than either a stabilizer (as stated by the Manual) or an elevator? Looks like I'm wrong as you discuss L & R elevator servos at 12:30--or does the stabilator just need the torque of synchronised twin servos? Thanks for the brilliant history given in the video description.
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 8 ай бұрын
I believe it's called a Stabilator. Both servos work in symetry to move the entire surface.

See how the shape of the light is not a symmetrical shape? The cutout is shaped perfectly to fit the light and the wires coming through the light. A dremel with a 1/8" carbide bit was used.

could it be better to connect the two elevator-servo-arms? If one failed, the other could make the job....
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 2 жыл бұрын
I thought about that as an option. In this case they are connected but through the linkages. It all depends on what happens to the other servo. If one dies and goes limp then shouldn't be an issue. If it locks solid than the second probably won't over power it.

I would have to agree the manuals suck or at least with my Skymaster Viper S it doesn't exist. I contacted Skymaster and they said they don't make a manual for my Viper S. All I got was CG location and control throws. I will be doing a few videos on this build because there is no manual.
