When I do advanced stamping, I always color in the design and let that dry by itself on the stamper, but instead of putting smudge free top coat on the stamper, I paint my nail with the top coat, but don't let it dry all the way. When you stamp the design onto your nail when the top coat isn't dry fully, it will stick. It's much easier and much faster than putting top coat on the stamp, letting that dry, and then peeling it off!!
@sharipolk72044 жыл бұрын
I was going to say the same thing. Much easier to stamp directly onto the nail after painting on the stamp, than it is to make a decal. I love all these designs though. You always do a beautiful job and I love your videos!
@sharipolk72044 жыл бұрын
Bahaha! I paused the video after the first advanced (or reversed) stamping nail and then saw you use the peel off base on the next one. Maniology also has a "sticky base coat" for that and the Orly Bonder works great too! :-)
@TikkaHorse4 жыл бұрын
I often use one of those silicone mats to do stamp art on and make decals (stamp onto a layer of topcoat to make it peelable). Basically, exactly what you do, but I have chronic pain which makes holding the stamper difficult so doing it on the mat is easier on me. I'll make all the decals I need, then apply then all at the same time to help prevent smudging too.
@nicolelavigne17004 жыл бұрын
It's also useful sometimes with regular stamping. I was stamping mermaid scales on my nails and the lines were so thin they didn't want to stick properly until I applied a layer of a sticky base coat on my nails over my base colour, then they stamped like a charm.

I do the 2nd method - color in the design on the stamper... let it fully dry... put a coat of clear top coat on the nail, and stamp when it is almost dry -just tacky. i will also stamp onto several different stampers, using several colors, and sometimes let them dry overnight in a drawer, so theyre ready to slap on the next day. :) so fun!

When I'm doing advanced stamping or even working with my hand painted decals before I peel the image up I put a thin layer of either top coat or clear polish down on my nail so the image has something to stick to and the fresh polish also kind of "melts" the dry top coat helping it to stick better.

I think gold would look good as well in replace of that white in the first stamped nail 😊 It's nice to hear or see when you make mistakes because it's more relatable to the experiences we might have with stamping as opposed to watching a nail tech or something. It's humbling? Is that the word? Idk. I have seen videos of people do that last technique and I wondered if they were stamping it without a top coat, I guess you have to have the top coat?
@KelliMarissa4 жыл бұрын
Some others have said that you just need any clear coat of polish but make sure it's still slightly tacky!
@Mar10la4 жыл бұрын
I never thought to use peel off base coat for reverse stamping. I always go for a cheap thin top coat and wait a minute for it to get tacky :) I agree with you on the decals, they're such a hassle to work with 😆
@KelliMarissa4 жыл бұрын
Oh that works too!! Good tip haha.
@bubbydumas4 жыл бұрын
Good job but I have a couple of tips (that may have been said below, not sure) that I think you might find good to try. First one, put on your polish and let it dry. Then put on a coat of Orly Bonder base coat. It has a tacky finish to it so if you are doing advanced stamping and your image has dried on your stamper, it will transfer every time! The benefit of doing this versus a peel off base coat is just that, you don't have a peel off base coat in the middle of your nail art. Second tip, I know you said you like to just press onto the stamp image to pick it up but if you use a slight rolling motion (a light touch too), I believe your image will pick up better. Give it a try! Oh, and p.s., Maniology has a sticky stamping polish which looks remarkably similar to Orly Bonder but I haven't tried it. Maybe they will send you some for review! Thanks for another great video. Rose

I find Orly Bonder works just as good for as a sticky base for stamping. I found Unt can peel up even over polish with to much water exposure. Plus, the Orly dries way faster than Unt does! Maniology does sell a sticky base for stamping, but I haven't tied it. I also use Orly Bonder for flakes and glitter. It works really well! Edit: To expand, I find sandwiching Unt between polish doesn't really let it dry fully and so even hours later, it can still be squishy. Not a fan!
