I just caught two Tarpon this weekend. One 65 lbs, the second one was 100 lbs. Both were caught in my Pelican Catch 120 kayak. It was my first time tarpon fishing from a kayak. I'm hooked. Great video.

That is a true kayaker ! getting in the water and not caring about getting wet and even got the fish with bare hands like a man ! awesome !! i hate to see videos where people complain about getting their butts wet, nice fucking fish by the way, as big as the kayak !!

Looks like a rush! Screw all these people that are giving you crap about fishing to have a good time. Basically they are saying you should lie and make it look like you are perfect. We all fish and we all hook and kill fish on accident sometimes. Its part of the sport. That being said, I dont see anything you did wrong. Busting through the surf must be awesome in a Kayak. Fish was huge. Nice catch!

Can you talk a bit about kayaks. What your using? I've been considering getting one for a while. Also what your prep consists of and gear. I live in the northeast so I will be going after blues and stripers. But I feel the basics are the same. Porgies, butter fish and Eel and sand worms are the typical bait around here. Your thoughts.

Is hard to get a SK gut hooked... Of course that just can happend with live bait and no one can tell in most cases, how is goin to be, at least with poons (SK)

looks like the fish was gut hooked. This is sporting?
@TheYakattackfl10 жыл бұрын
No he wasn't gut hooked. The hook was in the roof of the mouth and came out on its own if I remember correctly.
@dcgo44r10 жыл бұрын
Last time I ...Sport was: doing something just for pleasure as an activity; gut hooked or not. Now, was it the right thing to do? You can just answer if you are a fisherman. Previous I left a comment that explain! I look for straightforward answers so I will do the same! If you ask me If I deliberately kill a fish I would say NOT, But most people wouldn't ask that question!
@WilliamMDriscoll10 жыл бұрын
Most of us that Tarpon fish would NEVER kill one. In fact the fish is protected in Florida and MAY NOT be killed without applying for and buying a tag, something that virtually no self respecting Tarpon fisherman would consider. Most of us also know that gut hooking a tarpon and then playing it such that it pulls a kayak around until exhaustion is tantamount to killing it. There is nothing about this pursuit (I will not stupe to calling it a sport) that is admirable and if ever there was a pastime that is for "yahoos" this one fits the bill to a "T".

Please use circle hooks when using live bait for Tarpon. It may even improve your hook up rate.
