Years ago I had a four story high Georgia Pine removed manually. The worker climbed up with ropes, steel tipped boots, and a chain saw...removed the dead tree...buzzed out the stump... precision......amazing....what a skill!!!!!!

I live by the Pisgah Forest and every year or so we hear of big oaks falling down for no apparent reason - no storms or anything, they just fall. It fell on a car one year and I think it killed a couple of people, driving by at the wrong time. A couple of years ago a tree exploded in the middle of the night. Came out the next day and there were chunks of wood everywhere. The electric company comes out every year to trim the trees near the wires. Last year we had to get rid of four trees - oaks and maples. They were just growing too big and in the wrong places. Whenever there is a big storm we just have to hop that any trees fall across the creek and not toward the buildings.

We had a dead tree that was leaning precariously close to our fence and we were afraid it would fall on our fence and take down a section of the fence. So we had a tree trimming guy come out. It was truly amazing to watch him climb that tree like nothing, get up in it with a heave chain saw which he was flinging all over the place (at least that's what it looked like to me) and trimming branches and such. And not once did anything hit our fence. He was just amazing. And he had to be really strong, too, lifting that heavy chain saw above his head. I probably couldn't so much as pick the thing up. Our dogs were just raptly watching the entire process, as we were.

They are fascinating to watch! I live on a mountain and I'm amazed (and always kind of scared for) the tree climbers! But they seem to know what they are doing, never had a problem. But boy it's expensive here- hauling the wood away in Virginia is as expensive as cutting the tree down! Oh well, got to do it anyway! Merry Christmas Hayden's!

Hi I am amazed how they trim those trees and go up and down those trunks. It is an art knowing which angles to cut so the branches fall in a certain direction to not damage other branches and trees. I would be sitting there watching all day. More sun and less leaves in the pool next year. great video.

Tree work is such a speciality. Dangerous too, that is why they get the big bucks. Our house in NY borders on Sterling Forest, lots of big trees, very scary when the wind blows. Had some taken down and some fell. Had to give up on our above ground pool, no longer got enoigh sun. Your yard looks very good now.

My husband used to be a logger. Which is simular, except they cut the whole trees and sell them to the lumber company's. The lumber company's cut them into products that can be milled down such as wood flooring, lumber and paper products. My husband now owns his own semi and hauls, logs and lumber to the company's that makes these products. It has always fascinated me to watch any of these processes. And I've got to be at some pretty awesome things to watch. Tree trimmers are really on another level of dangerous jobs tho. These dead trees are very dangerous to even climb.

Years ago we had our huge oak trees trimmed of the dead branches and limbs. The canopies were not letting sun to the lower parts. That was pretty cool, 3 years ago we had 1 cut down & ground and the other one really trimmed again. I watched them all day it was so fascinating. The first time I had no idea they would climb up the tree like a bear or monkey. And YES it is big bucks! We also had 10 Leland Cyprus removed. Another "merry Christmas" gift. Your yard looks so nice and polished.

Ice storms are fairly common in the mid South and cause more damage than anything outside of tornadoes. My former neighbor apparently hired the Bonehead Tree Trimming Co for the sloppy job they did. This guy always took the lowest bid and got exactly what he paid for. What an idiot. One trimmer cut a tree limb that hit the electric wire connected to the back of my house and caused an bright orange spark. The line had to be replaced by the power company who was already next door, but it still was an annoyingly unnecessary inconvenience for me. Some places hire clumsy yutzes just because they work cheap.

We did a lot of tree fixing last year. It is pretty amazing how tree trimmers do their work. There have been two occasions where trees actually fell in our yard and we didn't want that to happen again so we took down one tree (the inside was rotten and the tree was huge). I love living in a wooded area but still have a love/hate relationship with the big trees on our property.

A berm was put in back of my place. It required the cutting down of a tulip tree - used to love the blossoms. I live in one of the towns with white squirrels. After the tree was down and dragged a little bit away, one of the white squirrels came running over and was looking frantic. His stash was in that tree!
