Great Haul! My most recent purchases in the past two months have been Vanity Fair, The Dragonbone Chair, Demon Copperhead, Christine, The Cloisters, The Emperor of Ocean Park, The Overstory, The Once and Future Witches, The Book of Lost Things, The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O, Life After Life, Death in Venice, and Founding Mothers. I got a few books on my Kindle recently as well, The Omen, The Spellbook of Katrina Van Tassel, Blackwater, We Are the Dead, Sword of Kaigen, Ninth Rain, and Of Blood and Fire. I'm currently reading The Spellbook of Katrina Van Tassel. I have a used bookshop within walking distance so I go there often, but of course with the used book stores the selection is unpredictable. Sometimes its not ideal, but other times I have found some great books.

YESSSSS! You got the Whisperwicks! I sent an IG to you a couple weeks back, I CANNOT wait to see your review on it! This may actually be not only the best middle grade book I’ve read in a long time, but it may be my favorite book of this year. And it’s a freakin middle grade book! Village of the Damned and Gamed God Plays sounds awesome

Recently started Navola and it’s stunning. I’ve never read a book by this author but I’m seriously wondering why as he paints such a beautiful vivid world

I randomly picked up Lady Macbeth and enjoyed it, but can also see how some people disliked it. It was a 3.75 ⭐️ read for me but I looooved the gothic atmosphere which is perfect to read right now.

Yay, to be the first one! I am a huge fan of The Thursday Murder Club, but We Solve Murders was somehow even better. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something in his new book made the story much more relatable. Curious to hear your thoughts :)

If you're craving romantasy and Greek gods I'd like to recommend the Kingmaker Chronicles series by Amanda Bouchet. This series released before romantasy became a thing. The first trilogy center one couple and she is writing, I think 3 more focusing on other characters (one already released) They are alot of fun 😊

If someone claims they wrote feminist version of lady macbeth, they clearly never read shakespear. Pass from me, sadly
@ficuscarica32692 ай бұрын
Could you say more? I am not that familiar with Shakespeare so I am curious!
@Iza562 ай бұрын
@@ficuscarica3269 there's great review by liv on goodread, she broke down the whole character. But basically lady macbeth was powerful, ambitious, she was manipulating her way to the top. So clearly doesn't need to be more "feminist". Also I watched one review that despite synopsis this book is not about the lady mackbeth but she's just one of wives, and doesn't scream feminism either. But I guess if you didn't read Shakespeare then you might like it

REAGAN I am begging you on my hands and knees to please read Unraveller by Frances Hardinge. It is dark upper middle grade but it has such beautiful elements of found family, coping with grief and trauma, and explores the question of “when does the search for justice become simply vengeance”. It was one of my favorite reads last year and I still think about it once a week!

I’m wondering are adults reading middle grade books? Or are you covering them for parents seeking books for their kids?
@catherinebruno16892 ай бұрын
I read middle grade books and young adult books. I consider it part of my job as an English teacher to know what books are out there. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with adults reading them.

I'm 47 and I enjoy reading middle grade books. There's a whimsy to them that isn't in adult books that makes them so fun. Also, middle grade horror isn't gory and has a coziness to it that I appreciate while still being spooky. Perfect autumn vibes.

I read middle grade and YA sometimes! Especially YA thrillers/mysteries. They can get away with being campy in a way that adult novels often can’t and I find it easier to suspend my disbelief lol
