Me and a mate have been keeping our Untuned high level guard gear and then we tune it in the new areas. The items have stats for the level and rarity they are, still require Guard as a stat, yet can be used as if they belonged in the episode. Imo, some passive bonus for every 10 or 20 levels of each skill would he great. +1HP permanently for each 10 Guard. +0.1 Ranged Attack Speed for every 10 points in Scout. Happy to reset but I think some overall progression would hring it all together really nicely.

I respect the reasoning that new professions feel fun. However with the combat professions, so far they all feel the same. This could be fixed with them having unique skills or mechanics, even minor ones.

I feel like the strategy to unlock the map and professions in chunks is less overwhelming and once we get a feel for them all they can then blend them all together in new regions. Having fun so far even just in episode 1 playing casually.

I saw a suggestion of changing "episode" to "region" so it doesnt sound like they are a finite area you move on from.

Ya it might be a good idea. I feel like the problem is the majority of people are only going to play episode 1, maybe 2, so they don’t get the full scape of the game. If you don’t know what the strange stones are, and if you don’t understand how everything intertwines, I can see you having a bad time. I guess what I’m saying is you need to sink too much time in the beginning to feel a reward
@SleepyHandleАй бұрын
@@samplautz5586yeah I haven't even made it through the quest yet. There's a lot of things I'm not super thrilled about. Tbh this might be a game where I come back in 6 months and try again. I think the main crux of the issue is that between episode 1 and 2, there is no evidence that your previously leveled skills are "actually useful," despite not being actively part of the new content. The very first thing we should have to do in episode 2 msq is start leveling a new skill AND leveling an old skill (if one didn't already) to accomplish a goal.

I think when it comes to the professions they need to go 1 of 2 routes you either have a set of universal skills which every episode has like fishing for example where every episode you are able to fish in certain locations or in future episodes they make it so that you carry your profession over so for example in episode 5 you carry your fishing, woodcutting and mining over where you can continue level these professions in another area
@ROFLWAFFLELAWL4Ай бұрын
That wouldnt make things better because then youre forcing them to add resource gathering areas in every episode. Thats not a good solution. The way things are now is fine.
@HonestTravellerАй бұрын
That doesnt help the game design in the slightest, think about it. Zone A would be dead as Zone B everyone would be farming for better xp. The areas are small as it is, to keep the areas looking busy they need to make people run from different zones and stay in different areas so it doesnt look quiet.
@projectbonsai8538Ай бұрын
"having the new experience every episode" is essentially another way of saying, starting from zero every episode, which people do not like, people wanna see their hard work put in matter and carry over in the world of Brighter Shores. i was really bummed out that i grinded really good gear Episode 1 just to find out, the stats from Episode 1 don't carry over to Episode 2, meaning in Episode 2 your Episode 1 gear gives you zero stats and vice versa! ;;____;;;, you need Episode Specific gear, this is extremely unmotivating to keep going :,( all that work and then you have to start over, i don't think i can go through to episode 4 like this :((( oooeuuuf

Hi thanks for the videos played lots of mmo over the years none that make you start over with each map. Also, the storage space needs to be tripled at least to have storage for all profession and 4 sets of gear. I know its early access to a game out less than a week now. I think it was not well thought out when making for people that do not have 8 hours a day to play the game. The free to play is fine but after that fun is over time top play another game.

Well I just don’t get the logic although I understand the emotional reasoning behind having a combat skill for each area. I do understand how a scout Ranger is different from a town guard. But when you cater to under-levelled players’ feelings, you also don’t solve the problem of them being lower total level. And so now each area combat is the same with a ranged, 2h and sword and board, so you feel absolutely no difference fighting something as a guard versus a ranger. But you have to do combat skill 5+ times to 500 to max now, whereas you never fish to 500 twice or in two different episodes. I suppose you could argue Gatherer and Forager is the same thing twice. The problem is the new player will obviously always be behind your own Watchman level even when ep6 drops right? So you fix it for one episode but not for every single other episode already released. So what are you fixing then? Solution; They should make the combat skill still follow your character and have one level 500 ladder that follows you across all areas, but create some sort of Reputation System where you gain % reputation with the local fighters of the area/episode. You can climb a hierarchical ladder like the military, raising your rank. So you can be really weak as a Guard but a renowned Minefighter but you could be the same combat level as a great scout and lvl 100% Watchman in less than a week after release lol. Or alternatively, make each class use specific weapons to make them more distinct. Maybe have a scout able to use more arrows? A guard always uses sword and board? Watchman can use 2h? Idk.
@RCmetal11Ай бұрын
I get the reasoning, but it feels like total shit to have all of my gear and progress be totally invalidated each time i enter a new episode. It goes against the entire purpose of an RPG, where the point is to progress your entire character. I spent 5ish hours grinding and approaching episode 2, only for all of my progress to be made irrelevant the moment i walked through the gates.
@maddoroxАй бұрын
as you progress though, youll realise that episode 1's progress isnt irrelevant at all, because at some point the subsequent episodes requires progress in episode 1
@IBunnjАй бұрын
Doesnt it also feel like total shit to have all of your gear invalidated each time you get from level 20 to 30 level zone (wow for example) or have all of your gear invalidated each time new expansion or powercreep comes (every mmo ever). These are all just different approaches.
@MattBorgerson-um8zqАй бұрын
@@IBunnj let's not make excuses for a flawed mechanic, I'm sure they'll fix it but let's not excuse poor progression with another example of poor progression. Simple solution, fix the issue.
@Sephiroso.Ай бұрын
The reasoning for the combat resetting does not make sense at all. He says it feels good to have it reset every episode and start over but it DOES NOT FOR THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE. It very clearly is a point of contention for many. Including people who are still playing the game just because the skilling part of the game is so good. Also him saying it's a way for a new player to not be so behind players who started before is just a lie. Someone who started before hand will have a ton of untuned gear just waiting to be tuned once a new episode drops which gives them a big legup on a new player starting the same episode. The reasoning is dogshit and the refusal to even remotely understand why so many people dislike it is frustrating. It's like he's purposefully not understanding what people are saying and just keep repeating "the skills don't reset, they're just brand new skills".
@HolborovvАй бұрын
but the new experieance is exactly the same so its not a new experience.... it just feels like a chore in its current state. I don't think this concept makes much sense or is a very good concept in general as it is at the moment. Why call them episodes too its so weird... Just call them zones or something.
